I'd love to think that Solly peruses the threads on NSC (along with others) and takes comfort from the fact that the large majority apportion no blame whatsoever.
If no one ever missed in a shootout, we'd be here forever.
He's a fab player, always gives his all, has become a true goalscorer and provides so much for us.
Solly - go relax, ignore the fools that berate you and knock in a goal (or two) in the next match against them.
You remain a star. :)

We’re all entitled to an opinion. I dont rate him as an end product option.
He was poor today, as was Mitoma.
We were the better side over 120 minutes, but not at our best.
You are entitled to an opinion, I was just stating some facts that contradicted your opinion that nothing has changed. In 29 Premier League games this season he’s scored 7 goals and made 7 assists.

You’ve either been drunk at games or not there at all.
There is another possibility. When some people make definitive negative pronouncements about players they then nurse their frustration when that player performs well. They can’t enjoy those great performances like the rest of us. Eventually something happens that gives them a platform to announce they were right all along. The rest of us will continue to enjoy Solly’s amazing form because that’s why we love football.

Maybe practice penalties after our cup exits this season.
Still our player of the season though.

Let’s not forget, it was his goal which got us promoted.

Clearly, I’ve opened a can of worms, but I stand by my opinion. Solly has played well at times this season, better than he has in previous seasons. He still lacks in consistency and end product for the amount of opportunities that come his way.
Good player? Yes. Albion legend? No, he isn’t.
He isn’t to blame for our defeat today, but as soon as he xx stepped up to take his penalty I knew he would miss. Did you think otherwise?

Yep, one of our best players. I think he carried that injury for most of the game so even more of a legend after today.
Disappointed second time March has hit the ball over bar not good for a pro footballer
He deserves our support. He has been excellent this season and a big part of why we are challenging for Europe. Anyone can miss a pen, I admire him stepping up to take one and you can see how gutted he is about it.

Anyone who criticises a player for missing a penalty, especially in a high pressure shoot out, shows a total lack of football knowledge and appreciation.

Even that vermin Kane who is one of the greatest strikers of the modern era misses big kicks. It’s just one kick of a ball, it can literally happen to any player at any time.

Solly is an Albion legend, was brilliant today as he has been all season and for the majority of his Albion career and does not deserve any criticism at all.

Webster was the only player I didn’t feel confident with….

Everything doesn’t have to be so black and white. He can be a brilliant player for us (which he has been, particularly this season), and it can also be true that putting two over the bar in cup shootouts in the same season is below the standard even he would expect of himself, as it’s poor. If Saka et al can bounce back, so can he.
