[Albion] Away fans in the home stands

On the park and ride was sat next to a family of “ Brighton” fans who were cheering when united scored, stating that they could catch city.

I said to one of them, we are still a few points behind city and they were saying how close they came a couple of years ago and they could still do it!

I asked If they were Brighton fans,….well they liked Brighton and were season ticket holders, but were all Liverpool fans as a family.

I went in the home end once as an away fan, never again!

Scabby Abbey 2001 first game of the season and we had just been promoted (Zamora!!) I lived in Cambridge at the time and it was the best of times for Brighton as far as I was concerned, I was bragging non stop to my Cambridge mates about Zamora and confidently predicting that we would win the league and Cambridge would go down. I was giving it large and ended up going to the match with the Cambridge boys behind the goal. My mates gave me constant abuse as Zamora got battered by their thuggish defenders and I had to just keep quiet as I was right out of my depth really, they took great delight in every brutal clumping tackle jumping all over me screaming at the Brighton players on the pitch and I just got pinballed around - keeping quiet so the hardcore behind us didn’t suss me out !!

It finished 0-0 and as I left the ground thoroughly dejected, I was thinking we aren’t winning anything if we can’t beat this lot. All the lads just pouring it on about how Zamora wouldn’t hack it in that league. They were wrong though

The ones that actually go to games are generally sound. It's the ones that have never been to Anfield (or any game for that matter) that give them a bad name tbh.

Fair few in the WSU disappearing when the 3rd went in. Didn’t hear anyone around us though. But did notice a dad whos kid had full Liverpool kit on crying at full time on the concourse at the end of the game

I have to say the arsenal game was really unpleasant for it. But the atmosphere in the wsu was excellent today in general and I didn't see too many. There were the odd gormless half and halfers. My bigger issue is not with any away fans who are bellends. They are easy enough to spot. It's more when there are loads of them. Sitting silently. It just kills the atmosphere and makes it weird. The arsenal game was the worst I've known it. No doubt made worse by their abhorrent plastic fan base coming out of the woodwork now they are playing well and albion fans not being able to make it on NYE either travel issues etc.

Me too! In top tier with Liverpool fans. Quite a few of us up in there and to the left of our visiting section in the other.

Bizarrely there were Liverpool fans in the away end at anfield a couple of seasons ago (when Liverpool were really good). I remember being inebriated and jumping on the Scouser next to me when mwepu scored and then feeling a bit scared when the realisation hit, he was 6,3 and built like a brick sh1t house. Luckily his friend held him back and they moved at half time.

Considering the hoops you have to jump through to buy Brighton tickets these days it’s a wonder that so many non Brighton fans are able to buy them. One assumes these oppo fans have the foresight to sign up to My Albion+ (at least 14 days prior) so as they can buy tickets when they go on sale.

Plenty of loud cheers in 1901 at the final whistle of the United vs City game yesterday. MAYBE they were Albion fans just happy to see City lose but I doubt it

Away fan sat next to me AGAIN. Unlike others teams these were two local lads but one was a Brighton fan. But yet again it spoilt my day. I will be in touch with the club Monday because I'm just fed up with it.
