Powerful header and a follow through which included a big two handed shove on the Blackburn keeper.
Momentum, that's all it was.

And just in case scoring two goals against Blackburn and pushing their keeper into the net (and getting away with it!) wasn't enough, in his live BBC interview he referred to them as "the b@stards" and got away with that too! :lolol:

I think there is something really 1970's about the idea of splitting the British population into "White British" and "All the rest". Smacks of Alf Garnett and the National Front.
Possibly, but how else would certain types know who to blame for their own short-comings?

My guess is the season's over and people quite enjoy watching the meltdown take shape at Burnley? I know I do.
Meltdown what meltfown? they are top of the Championship, playing some great football, (seems a strange thing to say about a Burnley team), and potentially Premier League bound again.

But Ashley? as much as l loved him the first time around, at 33 his best days are behind him.

That was written last year, when most of the players were leaving (some on free transfers) and we had neither a manager nor any money. Since then we have got Kompany and 16 new players, with astonishment that such a good side can be built from scratch. (Barnes, Cork, and Brownhill were the only players on Sunday who were here last year. Rodriguez, Taylor, and Gudmondsson have contributed as well.)

Fun fact: 6 months ago when I posted the quoted remark it was true.

Fair comment, my apologies, the trouble is with the post date now in that insipid light grey on a white background, my deteriorating eyesight can't pick it up easily.

That's my excuse anyway.

Just banged one in at the 'Wall.

Be great to see him back at The Amex next campaign,.maybe he'll get a 'Shane Duffy' type reception.
He’s only just left the premier league!?

If the whole of the Norff can belt one out over Donkey Duffy, then our Ash deserves a cheer or two.
Always got a clap - not in the same league of legend as Duffy. Why don’t you like Shane?

Not 'dislike' but if you're talking quality of player for us then Barnes was light years ahead.
Oooh wouldn’t say that personally. Barnes was decent enough at Championship level and went on to do well in the prem. Duffy the same really - difference is Duffy did it with us and for longer so will always get a better reception.

All about opinions I guess, I don't accept any of that.
We rescued Duffy from going nowhere. Was always good in the air but poor on the deck.
Barnes was a Maverick but had a lot of flair.
Big mistake to let him go.

Great day this was

I remember Barnes scoring at Southend very early on - maybe even on his debut. Hit the ground running if I remember rightly. I can remember Duffy being dodgy first 2 games but improving immensely after that.

I must admit we were a tad taken aback at the orgasmic, roaring welcome on Saturday.

Each to their own.....
