4 more races to go this season with nothing to play for [emoji1]

Would be good to see the teams go into full ‘testing’ mode with loads of upgrades trying stuff in preparation for next season.

2023 would great to have Red Bull, Ferrari and Merc all competing at the front.

Still so much anti-RB, Horner, and Max on this thread, it does get somewhat tedious.

Lando drove the nuts off that McLaren, and Riccardo did well too.

But didn't Perez do a fantastic job?

Crap circuit, like others have said, and that is probably the only point we will agree on.

As did the constant harping about how much better Russell was than Hamilton earlier in the season. It's gone rather quiet lately.

So they awarded full points even though everyone expected they wouldn’t? Another FIA cock up to give Max a title, then?

Are your surprised? I don’t think I’ve EVER heard Mouldy accept that he is or could be wrong

I think the suggestions that Lewis as the experienced driver was charged with trying different things to turn a dog of a car which was up there with the worst on the grid earlier in the season. Russell drove with the best set up they had at the time, hence he did better than Lewis early in the season as most things they tried on his car weren’t working.

Class will always out and credit to Russell (he does whinge as much as Lewis btw) for running Lewis close over the last couple of months. He is clearly an excellent driver but still not up there with the GOAT

Glad I walked the dog and watched it after a big breakfast on recording. Fast forward was my friend. What a dull race and what a dull season. Far more entertainment last season (except for Belgium) on the old rules.

Max deserved it this year although yet again controversy in the race he claimed it, well done Max! He should now do the right thing and hand last years title to Lewis who was ROBBED of a record breaking achievement! No Red Bull/Mercedes bias here, just facts!

After last seasons debacle, I've not watched any of this season, and read very little about it. But sounds like little has changed regarding the FIA.

It hasn't, I too have watched very little, its dull and predictable, my main motorsport passion has been historics, but thats not historic any more and lacks passion as all the enthusiasts have walked away, replaced by corporate bosses and semi retired pro's.

I tuned in to the last race of last season - the hype drew me in, and it was the first F1 race I had watched for decades.

I found it really entertaining, and brilliantly filmed and presented...until the ridiculous ending. I decided there and then that a sport that could award a championship to a driver who had been miles behind prior to the emergency car being deployed, but who was given a chance of a one lap shoot out on fresher tyres, was not for me. I have not returned, and will not return.

Spa last year left a very bad taste in the mouth, last race of the season was the nail in the coffin for me. Barely watched any of it this season, put Monza on and when it took 3 laps for the safety car to come out, enough time for everyone to pit and get back out in front of it, completely negating the safety aspect of it, I realised its going to take a lot for me to get back in to following it.

The new owners and the FIA have gone heavily down the entertainment route to bring in new fans and that has been to the detriment of the sporting spectacle.

Watched the BTCC finale yesterday and that was fantastic, went down to the last race of the season with 3 drivers still in with a realistic chance of winning the title.

Red Bull have been found guilty of breaking Formula 1's budget cap by the sport's governing body, the FIA.

Red Bull exceeded the $145m (£114m) limit during 2021, the FIA said, adding that the offence was "minor", the lower of the two categories of breach.

This means the team exceeded the cap by less than 5%, or $7.25m.

Both Red Bull and Aston Martin were found guilty of a procedural breach of the cap.

The FIA said it was "currently determining the appropriate course of action".

Hopefully a big manufacturers points deduction to put Ferrari and Merc ahead of them. 300 should do it, hit them in the pocket, unfair to penalise drivers

Helmut Marko is such a classless helmet with his digs

"Max is now a much more relaxed driver and much more mature, he will continue to look for performance and to improve, although he is not like Hamilton, he is not a record chaser."

I doubt Hamilton was when he had just the two titles, and Max's first will always go down as tainted too

"We're very confident we're within the cap and within those financial regulations. So we've been shocked at the speculation and accusations that have been made by other teams. We wait for the FIA to conclude their process and we wait to see what comes out. Anything other than compliance we'll be extremely surprised at."
Christian Horner.

2021 - one of the most tainted F1 driver championship victories of all time?

Red Bull does have more than it's fair share of dislikeable people working for them at the top

Will be interesting to see what slap on the wrist RB will get, in light of the championship being decided yesterday.

“Financial regulations are a difficult change to make in Formula 1,” Ross Brawn said back in 2019 during a FIA press conference in Austin, Texas.

“We have tried in the past and have not been successful. I think the key thing about the new financial regulations is that they are part of the FIA rules. The penalties for breaking the financial regulations will be sporting penalties of different kinds, depending on the severity of the infringement. Before we had the resource restriction, which was an gentlemen agreement between teams. Well, there aren’t many gentlemen in the paddock, I’m afraid, and it was a failure,” – he added before launching a genuine slogan:

“If you fraudulently breach the financial regulations, you will lose your championship. There will be serious consequences for the teams that break these regulations. How will we have control over expenses? We have a very strong team of financial experts within the FIA and F1 and we sought external support. The new rules are essential for the well-being of F1.”

Forgive me for being ignorant here, but I must have missed something.
I recorded the race Sunday morning and got up around 8 to watch it. Fast forwards the boring bits but the race was good. Sky comentary saying how Max was first but second place would be decided in the stewards room. Either way Max would not be champion with half points and LeClerc in third place could still, in theory, catch Max. Watch Max park up his car with no signs of World Champion anywhere. That's good enough for me and turn off the TV.
Later that day I put on SSN and see Max is world champion. How?
Went back to the recording to see Max being interviewed but still not WC. Then suddenly he is WC when LeClerc was punished, and yet we were told it would make no difference.
