Home to get my vodka and thought I might write before I drink it...

Firstly any abuse to Bruno and his family is utterly despicable and totally deplorable.
Secondly I too was upset but fully understood the magnitude too the decision to not only himself but first and foremost his family and their security financially.
Thirdly your comments about social media are probably correct, I don’t partake in Twitter or Facebook precisely for the faceless abuse and pure trolling by some folk. I do however disagree about your comment on NSC, I feel NSC is not like that as a general rule, and if anyone does step out of line not only do Bozza and the team step in, we police ourselves and call people out.

I disagree. They have problems with tone and levels, both of which they have the (not easy) "responsibility" of setting. No secret I am struggling with the tone of one the moderators and it is from personal experience, coming here and engaging mainly in football threads, enjoying the place while trying to be respectful and even helpful (the not so bright Barber mail was intended as such).

Then one day venturing into a political thread, watching this moderator humilitate, abuse and attack someone for about ten pages in a thread. That sort of changes things. Its like watching the team captain headbutt a referee... the rest of the players will just drop any respectfulness and there will be screaming and handbags all over the place in no time. The respect you have for the discussion climate just drops dead to the ground when observing admins or mods throwing shit around like rabid monkeys. It changes the tone of the entire board, something that amplifies when sensible people get enough of it and just stop posting or visiting.

The other factor, levels, has also been an obvious struggle here, there's been inconsistency in the level of tolerance. When someone gets a "short ban for circumventing the swear filter" while you have Pretty pinky fairy popping up doing nothing but agitating or trolling in every thread, it just makes people annoyed, confused and unsure if there are any rules and what those rules are... just gets confusing: whats the ****ing level? Is this a day we can make some funny Auschwitz jokes or is it a day where we'll be banned for a month for saying ACAB? Recently the level has been clear though, pretty lawless here.

Does these things mean that I think NSC is a bad forum or that most of the admins and mods are not doing a good job? Not really, it just means that I think NSC is trying to be something that is very difficult to be, with all the advantages and disadvantages it results in.

But things could change a bit I think, like:

1. There needs to be a set of rules pinned that people can refer to when things go overboard. Today if someone says "you're doing personal attacks" you have to scratch your beard and think "ok.. so is that good or bad?" (exaggerated but you get the gist).

2. Mods need to behave or its not going to work out. It has way too much impact. Learn and improve or step down and join us deadly people again.

3. Creating two main boards, one for football and one for everything else might be a good idea. Yes, it is scary, I like the current mix and I don't like the thought of it... but it probably is a good idea for the general atmosphere.

4. Create a very strict "don't call new members Palace, Mustafa, vagabond, Timmy or anything of that sort until they have at least.. 2 posts". Anyone new posting anything here goes through this massive trial that must be very, very weird and off-putting if they're actually just... new. And this place would not go under with fresh blood, but it might without.

5. This one is controversial but the need for it is increasing as clubs, players, their families etc. get more and more aware of what happens on the Internet: staff and players need to be treated as if they're actual human beings living nearby most of you folks. Criticism or saying "I want a new player instead of X" is one thing but things like "Judas ****", "this player is an idiot" or "this player is ugly"... it needs to go I think.

NSC is good but there's room for improvement. Gentrification and normalisation ain't nice but sometimes you need a slice.

Once again, death threats should be reported to the Police asap and online abuse condemned, but, as it stands ... an entire thread full of opinions based on hearsay with no verifiable evidence of even one threatening or abusive/unacceptable comment apparently posted online plus some bloke from Sweden trying to push an agenda.

Weeell you've passed the 2 post limit so hi there baker_lite.

The main reason I believe OP on this is because one of the very, very few proven ITKs here insinuated that there was "more to this" when the note on the door thing appeared. The "more to this" is probably what this thread is about.

I would've thought that in this day and age it should be pretty easy to identify the idiots who are targeting Bruno with death threats.
Although the majority of responsible BHA fans are upset at his departure none would come out with this durge.
I for one would welcome him back as a future manager

Wrong. They’re telling you that you should be guilty for continuing to celebrate it.

No, no, they really are not. Nobody - not even PP whatsisname and his cronies - has ever celebrated slavery on NSC - so, find me where someone has.

Tough one, eh..................?

To be honest Swansman I generally like NSC as it is. I think Bozza and the Mods do a great job.

I like the idea of a football/sports only section.

However, the essence and strength of NSC is discussion, if you remove the subject matter whether it’s a managers tactics or continued performance, then you are losing a key element. Sometimes it goes too far, but then sensible posters interject.

I believe and would hope no one on here would be stupid enough to overstep the line. In terms of some posts you have to assume ‘best intentions’ otherwise the content is taken out of context.

Not surprised, sadly. You only have to look at the type of comments on social media to get a flavour of the abuse people get.

Personally I think some of the comments on here were way out of line, too - although clearly not in the same league. Especially given no-one knew the full story and just jumped to the conclusion that he'd followed the money.

Not yet, he couldn't. He doesn't see himself as ready for that yet.

One day, hopefully, but not now.

And this is the bizarre thing about all the hate from those who see him as a potential future manager. How else is he to get the experience needed for the job without variety. Sure the timing was piss poor but what do you do in such a situation, kick yourself in the balls or take the opportunity as it presents itself. The over reaction may come back to haunt us, when he has served his apprenticeship and avoids us like the plague. It also has me wondering what kind of reception our old coaching squad is going to receive on the 30th Oct. I didn't realise the next home game against Chelsea was so close, going to be a lot of raw/hurt feelings that day.

Being new here I have to agree with most of this. Especially point 4, some people have been very welcoming but an equal number have been quite un-welcoming which is not really a good thing, nor does it reflect well on the fans of the club in general. Pinned rules would be handy as well so we are all on the same page - some of us just want to talk Seagulls soccer and not get involved with all the other blah blah so if keeping that on the main page is a requirement maybe a filter where we can filter out those topics and just see the soccer chat.

On the Bruno subject: really!? Some people need to get a life.

I have some information to share that has come from a source very close to Bruno . I can’t tell you who , but it is a very close source to him and this is not speculation by me this is factual . This information is first hand .

Bruno did not wish to leave the club but he understandably could not be given any guarantees that whoever the new manager is would want to keep him in his senior coaching role . Bruno’s ultimate aim is to become a manager in his own right . Because if this he decided it was best to accept the offer to move with Potter along with the increased financial offer which was too good to turn down .

Ok that bit is probably not anything that most fans couldn’t guess however the next bit is the most important -

Bruno has been receiving a lot of abuse since his decision to move as well as death threats and whilst Bruno and his family are still living in Brighton , they are seriously considering whether they should move out of our city because of the amount and level of abuse .

I want to say that as Brighton fans , we are far better than this and no one should be directing any abuse towards him full stop .

I was ashamed when I heard this . I respectfully ask that if anyone knows anyone that is in any way involved in this abuse that they speak to them and make them aware that it needs to stop immediately. It is completely unacceptable.

Thank you for reading .

There's 2 elements.

The first and obvious part is the total twunts that threaten any form of violence over an employee of a football club are out of order, if the police catch them, you'd hope the club will take action. There's simply no place to threaten someone nor their families.

The second part about having no choice, I'm calling BS if he said that, of course I'd expect Bruno would have loved to maintain his revered status among albion fans, and you'd guess the grumbling normal (non knuckle dragger) fans backlash has taken him aback, so its easy to try and then paint it this way to absolve himself of the genuine upset it caused some real fans.

He did have a choice, if he really wanted to stay, he could've gone to Bloom (both he and Barber, its alleged, expected Bruno and Roberts to stay), and as a Spanish speaker with all our Spanish speaking lads, it sounds like they wanted him to stay. At the very least I'm guessing it wouldn't have been too hard to negotiate his position at Chelsea, and to sign that contract in a month rather than under 48 hours. There's a million genuine reasons you could give, to keep his options open and see if the new man wanted him (which assumes Bloom couldn't insist he stayed for continuity, just like David Weir stays etc). He could still have gone to Chelsea if not wanted here imho.

I just don't believe this. He simply wanted to go, money, challenge, status, whatever, he chose to leave without seeing if he could have actually stayed.

I'm sure he loved it here, but he wasn't forced out and I'm convinced he could've stayed if he really wanted that. He didn't.

My take on Potter bringing Bruno with him is that perhaps he has an exceptional relationship with Cucu, given that they are both Catalan. It stands to reason that GP sees having MC performing for his new club like he did for us as a top priority. I imagine someone has mentioned that on here, but I've largely been avoiding this and other BHA related social media, as people spout a lot of sh1t when they're emotional.

Albion need to get a Spanish speaking coach in pronto, btw, given how much we've invested in Spanish speaking lads.

Shame on those abusing Bruno. He'll always be an Albion legend.

Fair enough. I don’t feel that at all. I’ve watched Brighton fans behaving like knobs every now and again for 46 years. I’ve never felt associated with them in any way.

It’s probably easy for you to say this, as you’re not a hand-wringing Guardian reader. :lolol:

Clearly if Bruno and his family are receiving abuse then it is totally unacceptable.

What I find bizarre is that the Albion didn't seek to keep Bruno and Roberts on, and it is also bizarre why Potter took them with him. My understanding is that even though Potter took Bruno and Roberts their Chelsea equivalents Anthony Barry and Hilario are still in post.

Hilario is still listed as goalkeeping coach, Anthony Barry as one of the 4 1st Team Assistant Coaches along with Reid, Hamberg and Bruno.

Bruno must be the highest paid cone manager in world football.

They have been confirmed as forming part of Potters coaching team.

Not forced out, but the choices were, remain at Brighton with some uncertainty as to what role he would have, or who his new boss might be, or go to Chelsea, continue working with one of the most highly regarded coaches in the PL, and colleagues he knows and likes, with a pay rise. I know what I would do if I were him, it is not his fault we all put him on a pedestal.

Oh good, another vaguely interesting thread with an off topic Swansman essay in. Yawn

Bruno will rightly cop some stick but death threats are beyond the pale, very sad. I still love the guy and appreciate it must have been an upsetting decision, until the end of the month when his salary comes through.

Totally out of order but would the club have said " cheers Bruno ,but you are surplus to requirements"?
I don't think we work like that.

We would've likely found a role for him but they may not have helped his aim to be a manager. He could've stayed and waited for the new regime but being surplus could've dented his reputation

They expected him to stay yes, PB said so the press conference, but the question is still what would have happened under a new manager bringing in his on blokes - would Bruno still have had an important role in the coaching team? People keep talking about "the Spanish speaking guys" but his job nor dream is not to be Pervis (the only one of the Spanish speakers who doesnt speak English) interpreter.
