11 hour flight two days ago for a player who was recently out for 3 months with injury. Start him and there is a fair chance he is going off on a stretcher after 30 min or so. Would it be brave to start him? Yeah sort of in a "its very brave to jump out of an airplane without a parachute" sense of brave.

19 years old, made debut from the bench in November, started the next game a few days later, picked up a bad injury after 13 minutes and has been out injured ever since.

Yeah, sling him in from the start next game, what's the worst that could happen

I'm a big fan, but honestly ???

That really would be classic EPL years Albion.

Playing some sort of end game, that never comes.

Yep, sending our 'hot' young attacking imports off to a few choice northern backwaters really is the pathway I'd expect for a future world beater... it'd probably be enough to put me off football for life... I jest, of course BUT:

Young Jeremy should have been put on around the 60 min mark today, the game was crying out for an x factor, which by the looks of his all too brief cameo he could have provided. Instead we got Jacob, who I rate highly, but he's a player that likes to play his way into a game from the outset... as an impact substitute, I remain unconvinced. If I can see this why can't GP? It's incredibly frustrating that our long suffering and paying home support are seemingly denied seeing exciting youngsters and potential game changers, until so (too?) late in matches where we're on top and crying out for something/anything different.

Here's hoping he gets a chance to scare the gunners a bit, I mean it's unlikely they're quaking in their boots ahead of our meeting, is it? I hope Graham rediscovers his mojo, and more pertinently what made him good in the first place (taking risks, bold selections and youngsters starting) and oh, his bloody razor.

Hasn't he just come back from a nasty injury?
Yea he has but he's been in the last three squads and only got on the pitch today as sub for a sub.

I thought Potter might have changed things a bit earlier today and Sarmiento could have got 20 minutes or so.

But of course it's entirely possible he's isn't ready for that and that's fair enough. I was just commenting that I thought he might have got a few more minutes since being back.

Hopefully there's more to come

Ah, here you are telling people they're wrong and what to think ALL THE TIME - relentlessly, tirelessly ... amazingly. You're probably right of course, but ... 5 mins??? surely he was worth around 30, especially given the fact the Ecuadorian's felt he was fit enough for some game time.

Explain to me, why Moder was a better bet, given his efforts with Poland... ? and why GP felt Moder was a game changing impact substitute ? Which he's clearly not.

The Jakub Moder who has played 112 minutes coming on as a substitute making 2 assists during that time, and who has played 1591 minutes as a starter making 1 assist?

Lol, flimsy at best... For me, one of those 'assists' was a total fluke... the point is, Jacob is a cultured, and talented player BUT he's not an exciting pacey game changer that today we desperately needed.

Nah, sorry ... I'm not having it. It was the wrong call plain and simple. Especially as we've now lost Jacob to injury.

I'd take a total fluke assist any day thank you very much.

And yeah Graham should have predicted that injury, I'll give you that.

You really are hard work.

You were saying GP would have been wrong to have given JS too much game time today as he's an injury risk, especially in light of his recent travels. Yet call me out for alluding that Jacob might have been fatigued after playing two 90 min games for Poland during the international break, and therefore possibly off the pace slightly and more susceptible to injury... You can't have it both ways.

Please try to be less sanctimonious and you know, angry... you're so angry all the time... what's the matter with you ? It's a free world and as Brighton followers we're allowed to discuss our opinions... and maybe GP's not always right, he's human after all and therefore fallible... He's not some kind of footballing demigod.

Oh, and you can stop manically refreshing nsc (feverishly frothing at the keyboard) after this, as I've made my point and stick by my opinion.

Have a lovely evening.

Moder is exciting, pacy, runs in behind the forwards, excellent motor, gets into good positions, thrilling talent and, unfortunately, looks as though we won't see him again in 2022. And you think it's appropriate to have a pop at him to prove a point based on a hunch?

No, especially in the light of recently being out for 3 months though sitting 11 hours on a plane is not exactly great for the body.

Jakub Moder did not recently come back from a serious injury and he did not travel for 11 hours two days before the game.

I'm not "disallowing you from discussing your opinions", I am discussing your opinions. Part of having opinions is that people may disagree with you and express their disagreement with your opinions.

Rest of this season is ****ed. Use it to fully blood Sarmiento, Caicedo, Ferguson, Offiah and others

Sarmiento looks an absolute star in the making.

Agree 100%

Don’t know if you saw the Phil Vickery discussion on the World Cup draw yesterday, but he was raving about Caciedo.

I do take your point and agree, but very hypothetical.

Mode’s injury is rotten luck, there is no evidence that it is because of midweek exertions….

In terms of Sarmiento, he should have been given 25 mins today and then be managed in a similar way to Lamptey post injury.

Potter’s team have a wealth of data and info on the training and playing loads of all the players, plus details of their travel, nutrition, recovery, niggles, blood and urine sample test data and a whole ton of other stuff, yet you determine he should have been given ‘25 minutes’ that is ‘similar’ to a completely different human.

Fair comment.

But that didn’t stop them putting Lallana on and then withdrawing him after 3 minutes with the same injury!

I think Sarmiento is a potential game changer, and needed to be on earlier, nothing wrong in that….. In terms of comparison to a ‘completely different human’ that is the only evidence I have to go on, and it has worked for Lamptey….

Question - would Sarmiento have come on but for Moder’s injury? I would say not….
