His business interests are obviously being impacted. He's in natural resources, not weaponry.

It's been reported that he has sympathy for his fellow Jew, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. If that is true (which is a huge, massive IF!), I'm behind him on this, especially if he shares the views of his daughter. I do doubt it though.

I don't think he should have been allowed to buy Chelsea in the first place, in much the same way that I don't think the World Cup should be taking place in Qatar. Unfortunately the authorities, both footballing and otherwise, have no interest in doing the right thing until the reason to do so hits them squarely in the face.

The daughter thing is interesting. It's quite possible that Abramovich actually does think the war is majorly wrong but his strong connection to Putin means he can't actually say anything without coming home to a novichok door handle, but his daughter may not be seen in the same light and is probably ignored by Putin and his chums.

'Glasnost i perestroika' translates as 'openness and reconstruction', not 'let's give the entire Soviet economy to a few individuals to spend on footballers and facelifts'

Of course he should!
Yep, and it's easily done. Just pay him upwards if a couple of billion quid and he'll be out on his ear. That'll larn 'im!

From a purely football perspective, would love to vote 'yes' but went for 'no' with caveats.

We already knew how all these guys got rich and have done nothing about it for 20 years.

Seems like he is willing to sell, but too who or what unscrupulous country could afford it...

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...eive-bids-chelsea-week-pressure-mounts-owner/

I imagine its going to take time if he cant get access to the money someone would pay for it.

Abramovich generally seems like someone who wants pretty much as little publicity as possible, so could see him going for a not so controversial choice. Will probably be some countries with western values and western style politics, like Saudi Arabia (I'm sure they could find a way to own two teams in the same league) or Qatar.

Selling up and donating all net proceeds to victims of war in Ukraine

Sounds good but how is he going to calculate 'net' proceeds bearing in mind the money he has put into the club since he bought it. He's loaned the club about £1.5m (subject to some dullard confirming the figures and value) and in 2021 Forbes valued it at £2.4b so that's a hefty contribution. Hopefully he'll split that at least equally between Russian and Ukrainians!!

Interesting to see Everton have tried to severe ties with their Russian. Aren’t Bournemouth also owned by a Russian fella? Any more?

Note NET profits.

Note also, that he actually said ‘victims of the war in Ukraine’ rather than necessarily Ukrainian victims of that war...

His intentions may be honourable in fairness. That fact that he has even referred to a ‘war’ is notable. Putin has banned such talk, hasn’t he?

Everton’s actions are somewhat laughable. They paused all commercial deals with Usmanov’s companies, whilst hoping that everyone will ignore that his money bankrolls Moshiri’s majority stake in the club.

Bournemouth are owner by a Russian petrochemical billionaire, Max Demin. He now has Uk nationality though.
