Excellent signing. I understand people saying USG might not want to disrupt their squad but if he’s a big upgrade then why not? Would we disrupt ours if we got loaned Kevin De Bruyne?

I'm just making a speculative joke, unfortunately. Wouldn't rule it out in the summer though; his goal and assist stats are almost certainly going to end up better than Trossard's were in the season before he came to us from the same league.

Definitely. USG will be well aware of the player's attributes - the 2 clubs respective scouting networks probably share all their info and data - and will have almost certainly bought in to the purpose of this loan before it was agreed. Seeing as the player had apparently added USG to his Insta 3-4 weeks ago, this seems to have been agreed for a while.
Edit: I've just seen that article Bozza posted which confimed that USG use BHA's scouting data.

The ability for us to be able to sign such players is incredible. Having a generation of talented individuals who see Brighton as a great place to come and develop towards playing Premier League football puts us ahead of most other sides in terms of long term opportunities. We could unearth a superstar (saving us £50m+) or just a first team regular for us (£20m+) or maybe have some signings who we sell on to other clubs because they are surplus to requirements. We'd probably have an incredible side in an under 23's tournament

But I've learned that patience and doing things the right way at the right times is worth it.
Even though I'd love to see this guy in a Brighton shirt tomorrow, I only have to think of how well Moder and Mac Allister are doing right now to know that this guy's time will come and we should just look forward to it when it happens. Same with Caciado, who I am guessing we might see next season.
At some point in the future we are likely to see Kozlowski, Moder, Mwepu and Caciado as our main midfield options, we are so prepared for the future it's amazing.
Think of all the attacking talent we still have to come too, Zeqiri, Khadra, Mitoma.
So exciting.

Personally I am old school and want our purchases to be available and to be in contention, not farmed out to some Belgium team I don’t give two ****s about. I have seen so many players come and go in my 48 years of supporting us that I am well past looking forward to players who may or may not play for us in 5 years time
I think that approach leaves us a lot more vulnerable long term. Injuries to key players, key players out of contract who won't re-sign, etc ... if you only ever sign players "for now" you leave yourself open to sliding out of contention if those signings are duds. You don't have to look very far to see that problem, there's a perfect example in our strike force: it's the one area of the field where I feel we've not done well enough signing for the future, and when we've signed for now we've ended up with more duds than successes.
