Potter and Lamptey, yes undoubted pluses, as are Lallana and Welbeck. The likes of Caicedo, Van Hecke, Ferguson, and Khadra, how do we know? they haven't started a first team match for the Albion between them yet! Obviously l very much hope that they do become successes, but only time will tell.

That’s the point. They are all at different stages in their development

As a general point not aimed at Cowfold, I suggest that all of us don’t have a clue what Ashworth’s detailed remit is, however those that matter seem to be happy with his performance to date.

You're reall having trouble with this, aren't you? Unable to tell the truth from a lie. The S*n truthfully states that there is a rumour; your example, however, I'm calling out as a lie. You have not heard a rumour about me being a Palarse fan. You may be trying to start one, but it's 100% certain that you haven't heard one. Liar!

But if The Sun started the rumour then they haven't heard it either, they have tried to start it like I was trying to start one about you being a Palace fan.

I agree that if The Sun have heard the rumour then it's true to report the rumour exists, although bad journalism if they make no attempt to substantiate the rumour.

Don't they need a Paul Barber type figure? Heard he's good at his job.

So good that Tony Bloom made him vice chairman over others on the board including personal friends and long term business associates.

Why do you call them "scum"? However you might like to look at it, they are a massive football club with a great history, far more support than we will ever have, and suddenly a bottomless pot of money to spend on an unlimited number of new players.

Why wouldn't he be tempted?

They are owned by scum. No argument. They are disgusting people from a horrendous nation. Your sympathy for them says a lot about you

So are you saying that everyone who holds a Saudi Arabian passport is scum? That's such a sweeping statement it borders on the ridiculous in my opinion. The current regime may well have a lot to answer for, but not every individual who happens to reside there.

Owners come and owners go. Long after this lot have sold up, the club will still exist. I'm only commenting on the football, not the politics.

Oh and incidentally, you no nothing about me or my views.

I'm honestly unsure what to make of Ashworth, I suspect his arrival is what prompted Hughton to change tactics in the second half of his final season and that went badly and got him sacked.

His successor has been better at fulfilling the Ashworth vision but the results aren't much of an improvement and noticeably worse for the home crowd.

Third time lucky?

No I didn’t say that, did I? Don’t put words in my mouth.

Your second feeble attempt at a response to justify the unjustifiable tells me a lot about you

You need to educate yourself about Saudi, Newcastle ownership, and then apologise

Ah, but the players we have and the spectacle have been so much better.

Was waiting for that.

I’d fully expect them to want him and he be top of their list but I’d be surprised if he was interested in going there.

So, multi billionaire owners who would pay top dollar wants to sign extremely successful administrator to become director of football…….and you think our employee would turn that down?

Wow.

If I were him I would be on the plane now

No need to get so personal is there? My views and opinions are based solely on the football club, not whoever owns them. I try not to comment on politics.

Yep, keeping our love for the Albion out of the equation, would many of us act any differently?

Can you explain why Hoots, not really known for flexibility, entirely changed our formation at the same point Ashworth arrived? It's just my suspicion that he didn't **** it up on his own.

But the football club’s owners are the Saudi leadership. Politics cannot be avoided here (unless you are in charge of the Premier League fit and proper test!)

Well Hoots just got incrementally more and more defensive. Dan Ashworth’s arrival just means Hoots’ face didn’t fit. But Ashworth didn’t tell Hoots to play in a way that meant zero or one chance a game

If some Saudi bloke appeared at your doorstep tomorrow saying, "we'll give Wilson to Brighton if you allow us to behead ten random Saudis..."... admit you'd think long and hard about it!
