I'm front row in West Stand, every game so far a minimum of 4 seats empty next to me, Crazy.

I didn't really notice the lack of attendees yesterday.
All the usual suspects were around in my area.

Looking at the highlights it looked like the East stand had a large number of no-shows.
I'm guessing many regulars in the front rows new what was awaiting them after hearing the weather forecast.
Hats off to those that stuck with it.

Once again neither me or my son had our ID or Covid pass checked. It is very easy to pass on your ticket under this protocol but, of course, at one point they may decided to check every supporter one day, like the do with commuters at Faversham station (and a clutch of feckless chavs all get fined).

I agree that it is very clunky though. If it weren't for Mrs T and her perseverence I would have given up this season. One of my brothers has given up.

That is never going to happen at a game with 25 - 30,000 attending, unless they’re prepared to delay the KO by 45 mins. And the ID cross checks that are done are against your Covid Pass and not the name on your ticket.

In which case why not add the resells to the pretendence to come up with a new figure including both that really measures the “true” attendance? We could all stay away one week to create a new record crowd of 62,000+ and when other teams fans say “there’s no one there” we can smugly retort with “yes there are, we sold the tickets and that’s all that matters…”:ffsparr:

Blimey this discussion got tedious 8 years ago; everyone knows that not everyone who has a ticket turns-up, especially when other factors like KO day and time, weather, travel issues, etc. kick-in.

One of the people that used to get my ticket last season caught the bug and purchased his own this season. Yesterday we had two spare tickets in WSU which we would normally have offloaded but they remained empty. How many hundreds more were in ths same situation.

I couldn’t go, couldn’t sell my tickets on the exchange and don’t know anyone whose paid £20 to be an Albion plus member. Hence my seats were empty.

Total waste….

That illegal thing is nonsense though. It’s not illegal if you inform the club and the ticket is passed on like all the other clubs do for FREE. Don’t fall for the lines the club are spinning.

The illegal thing was passed by government after Hillsborough when fans were blamed for the deaths, and has never been rescinded. The same as all seater stadia. The clubs and police want to know who is in the stadium.
Clubs turned a blind eye to it gradually but now following covid, the rules are being enforced again.

We went to a delayed wake for my late mother in law. We put out seats on the exchange.
I suspect if the weather had been better, more of them would’ve sold.

Yes and the point is it’s not about telling them who’s in the stadium - people can do that like Spurs have to etc - so the illegals point from PB is redundant when you look into it…

It’s about the money and red tape etc etc

Evidently not, given regular number of threads and discussion about inc this one. And you know what they say, you don’t have to open and read a thread if you find it tedious.

It’s about money, I agree, but fans have been caught using concession tickets for adults, and banned fans have been in. Not everyone is honest.

Yes but that’s a different ball game. That’s taking the mick. To have a free transfer isnt - and you not let the club aware someone else is using your seat for a game isn’t anywhere near as bad as an adult using a concession ticket…!

My 16-year-old daughter has missed all three home games so far this season due to work or college commitments. Her seat in the family stand has remained empty – my wife and I have gone to the games without her.

In previous seasons that ticket would have been quietly passed to a friend who would inevitably buy a pie, and a pint, perhaps a programme too. Yes, it's against the letter of the law, but the club gets some matchday revenue and another voice in the crowd to cheer on the team. So I don't think anyone is being cheated.

The new ticket transfer system isn't much use to me and probably many others. It will explain a lot of the empty seats not just in bad weather but at pretty much every home game this season I suspect.

I don’t have a problem with informally passing on STs, but passing on a child’s ticket to an adult is a bit cheeky, especially as you can legitimately upgrade.

Empty blue seat for some time because of a new serious illness x 2 means the Covid risk on the trains is too great. I'm waiting tor the Covid cases to go down in number and to get a vaccine booster. Also the trains will probably have to improve. Wishful thinking, maybe?
