Why does one punch knock people out?

Not implausible though. I remember standing in the Britannia in Hammersmith (a dog rough pub, happily now demolished) and watched one bloke hit another with one punch - the victim was still sparko on the floor several minutes later

Why do aliens land in LA or New York? Why not in Hemel Hempstead?

Where were the loos on the Starship Enterprise?

How come the guys strumming a guitar on some step know the chords of the song that Elvis wants to sing?

Why is it when the hero needs to make a quick get away they always find a unlocked car with the keys stored up under the sun visor.

Why do people in films go cross-eyed before fainting?

Why do detectives have such unreasonable and unfriendly bosses?

Why do all computers have large, clunky graphics to accompany simple processing tasks that somehow take 10 or 15 seconds to complete, along with little beeping noises or even robot-voice prompts like "calculating oxygen reserves"?

Why do the lead couple never close the curtains on their bedroom window when they retire for the night?

Why do all teenage boys/girls have a tree growing so close to their bedroom window? Why doesn't it rip up the foundations of the house?

Why don't burglar's make more use of those enormous great dog flaps in American houses?

Where do you get those great candles that light up an entire room? (and then go out when you are in an enclosed space and really need them?)

How do the Waltons afford the petrol to run all those cars?

Why doesn't anyone ever nip off to the loo?

How come the heroine wakes up with her make up unblemished and her hair perfectly in place - whatever the time and wherever she is?

This. Took the edge off the 24 series for me. A whole day and not even a quick slash after a quick dose of torture by a baddie that's evil but not the brains behind the plot because it's only 6pm.

Why does Steven Seagal get any work?

He doesn't. He had a large investment in his one major success and hes used the money to finance all the other low budget drosshe has made.

Why when theres a chase on foot does the person pursued try to escape by climbing up something, only to be thrown of the topif the bad guy?

Why does doctor who, Superman etc never go to the loo, sleep or eat a meal?

Why are virtually all sci-fi a bunch of misfits thrown together, by chance usually, on some ship and usually lost in space?

Dr Who= misfits and has been lost Tardis
Blake 7=Misfits Liberator
Red Dwarf= Both
Lost in Space=Both
Star wars= misfits Millenium Falcon
Star trek Voyager= Both
Babylon 5= Misfits, have their own city in space

Why do aliens land in LA or New York? Why not in Hemel Hempstead?

i know this one. its where the writer knows. example, the War of the Worlds aliens invaded Surrey as thats an area HG Wells knew. film writers tend to live in and around NewYork and LA.

Why after battling 3 vicious baddies taking a knife cut across his arm and numerous vicious blows to his face does the hero manage to win the fight feeling no pain but winces like a baby when the women in the scene bathes his wound.

Oh of course, hit them in the right place and you can even kill someone. It just irks me when you see the hero go "let me just take care of him", one quick smack round the chops and a 6ft henchman goes out like a candle.
Even tying them sitting up in a chair can't rouse them.

Also -
Dr Who can go anywhere in time and space yet decides to land in modern day or Victorian London every week.....

When the male and female protaganists decide to have an impromptu dance, they instantly hit it off and pull off the sort of moves that even the winning pair on Strictly couldn't manage after months of training together. (see also: lead antagonist gets up on a stage to sing/play an instrument and the backing group are able to follow perfectly)

Why do people always have time to give an important speech before they die?

Why do non-native English speakers speak to each other in English (with a heavy local accent to emphasise this isn't their mother tongue)?

Why do haunted houses never have any mobile signal coverage?

Why is the head/chief of Police always black?

Why are there no cities in England other than London?

Why does tapping a load of random keys really fast on a keyboard work any computer function?

Why doesn't the baddie just shoot the hero in the face rather than leaving him in a tank full of sharks with fricking laser beams guarded by inept guards?

How do baddies recruit their inept guards? Job centre?
