My first 'purchased' car was a little green Mini Van/Estate thingy. Fell apart very quickly. Purchased late 70's. Main reason for buying was it had an electric ariel that went down when the ignition was turned off. That lasted about a week though! Prior to that I drove Mums Vauxall Victor reg WLD568G blue with OHC on the back.

1965 White Mini CYM245C Bought it to drive from Patcham to Lewes to work in 1973. It stalled most days at the bottom of Coldean Lane when the battery connection in the boot failed.

I used to drive my white Mini 1000 from Hove to Lewes when working at County Hall. They were notoriously bad in the damp. I remember breaking down between Lewes and Falmer when the A27 was a single carriage road.

It was a special edition with multi-coloured seatbelts and a bright yellow gear-knob, oh yes living it up.

It was a shit car and kept breaking...

Wolseley 1500 - maroon painted. I drove it for quite a while before I founfd out the bastard who sold it to me had put the drum brakes on the rear wheels rhe wrong way around, and I had been driving for months on just the front-wheel btrakes.

The first car I hit was a Rover 90 built like a tank. When I came around the front to examine the damage I said "Ooh nothing wrong there." The owner of the Rover said "I'm not so sure..." there was a jet of water coming out of my radiator. Thank God for Radweld.

Another Wolseley 1500 but mine was Dove Grey - 1963 577 FBF which cost me £75 I think ... was a great car that only let me down once driving to london in the rain when the wiper motor burnt out. Luckily my mate attached some string to the passenger side wiper and operated the wipers through the quarterlight on his side :)

Retractable ariel!!! I actually bought and fitted one to my Escort 1.6L. How cool were they (not very is probably the correct answer).

Marina Coupe. My abiding memory of that bloody car was in the heat of summer getting into or out of that thing would strip the flesh off you. That dreadful material would make cold feel arctic and heat feel like fire.

Was never the same after i pissed in a coke bottle on the way home stuck in traffic on the A40 in 31 degree heat. Forever had hte odour of sweat and piss that seemed to be soaked in permanently.

Great times.
