Split screen Morris Minor convertible. T'was a muddy green colour with red 'roof'. Happy days.

My moggy was a 1958 model. It had the option to use the crank start!

Cost me £65 and £75 to insure TPF&T. Mullery was about to take over at the Albion.

My first car was a 1979 T Reg Capri 2.0 Ghia. It was blue with a black vinyl roof.

£375 I think it cost.

Plod and given 5 five-day wonders, wish I still had it as probably worth a fortune now.

Not got a photo of it, which I regret, but a 1978 ' S ' reg Fiat 128 Berlinetta coupe. I paid £35 for it in 1989. Wish I'd kept it as clean examples now sell for over £3k!

I had a 5 speed super Limited Edition Fiat 127 in a lovely shade of brown. It wasn't really a limited edition but I very rarely saw anyone else driving one. It made the Argus once after an away game to Chester..

W reg metallic green Fiat Strada with a brown Starsky & Hutch stripe. Bought it in 1985 from The Portland Carriage Company (think they're still there??). Bought it a few days after passing my test and driving it back was the first time I had ever driven on my own!! Could have been nasty!! Gawd, that car was Cooooool (well so I thought!)

A little black Morris Minor (VXW 253 the only car reg I can ever remember).
Had the extending arm indicators and also could crank start it in the cold weather.

Bought from Tony Bloom's dad at Hove motors. Got so excited driving it home that I forgot to take the handbrake off!! Bloody women drivers!

As my Dad was a Car Dealer I would usually just drive some old heap from stock, then I started doing some buying & selling from his site as well so would be running whatever had some tax on it. Would run whatever shifted fast as second hand stock in those days: Mk2 Escorts, Mk1 Fiestas, Minis, Renault 5s, Chevettes, even had a Fiat 500 at one point!

Bought & sold motorbikes as well, with learners being banned from 250cc down to 125cc there was a plague of Honda Superdreams in the early to mid 1980's so loads passed through my hands, wish I had kept an immaculate RD250LC which I picked up for £150 after owner had a very slight off on it (indicator, clutch lever and an alternator cover later it looked brand new, which seeing as it had less than a thousand miles on it was about right - he was a rich farmers son and his biking career had lasted about 2 months!)

When I finally got a proper job as opposed to wheeling & dealing I bought a sludge green Fiat Strada 75CL (hand built by robots) for around £200 at auction. Low mileage & great mechanically I drove it into the ground - the robots that built it must have had rusty fingers as every panel rotted away within 2 years and I think I sold it for spares or repair....

Not really into cars and I tend to choose to live in places where I won't need one. I see them as a burden. But, when I did need wheels I bought one of the new VW Beetles. I must admit I did feel a bit sad when I sold it. This is the only car I have owned during my 44 years.

Good taste you have Banjo! My first car was also a 1978 Ford Escort Mk.II but unfortunately wasn't red...it was beige with a brown interior but I loved her anyway. We used to go all round the country to away grounds in it but for some reason the car wouldn't let me visit my Gran in East Preston and broke down everytime we tried to visit. The last time, it broke down within 100 yards or so of her flat. It was ok anywhere else most of the time and never brokedown at away grounds.
