Wednesday/Luton Pitch Invasions.

Just how severe will the punishments meted out to these clubs be? The pitch invasions were bad enough, but it is the fact that players were targeted by elements of the crowd, particularly today, which make the misbehaviour so serious. I'd expect Gordon Taylor to be making his feelings known within the next couple of days. I'm no great admirer of the man, but he is bound to demand strong action is taken, to prevent his members safety being jeopardised in future. Large fines and matches played behind closed doors are surely appropriate sanctions.

Eagle eyed view of you...
Cabbie in Sheffield today was saying it's possible that Wednesday might have to play some games behind closed doors next season. Ultimately trouble was always on the cards, since a game that crucial would always end with one set of fans jubilant and the other angry/jealous, but to attack players is extremely rare and extremely serious. A bunch of 16 years olds coming and goading us (despite them losing???) isn't really that serious, but 200 trying to assault a player really isn't on and should result in a massive fine at least, with points deduction a further possibility.

Slap on the wrist and a fine. When have the FA/football league ever deducted points for pitch invasions. Both clubs will ban the perpetrators and make the right noises.

Watched the video on the other thread? Wednesday clearly respond to some of your friends running up the other end of the pitch past the players, deserved it.

I don't have all the facts, but it sounds like the York players weren't able to leave the pitch and had to go through the the away end and out through a back door to get away from the Luton fans...that sounds fairly serious.

I can't see them getting a really drastic punishment, like being thrown out of the league, more likely a big fine and playing games behind closed doors.

Attacked and had no option but to run for the away end where they sheltered for quite a while. I think if they were in league 2 they'd get thrown out, the FL does seem to rather hate Luton, as it is hopefully a large enough points deduction to rule out promotion next season.

A big points deduction for Luton that would help them to have another year in the Conference would be fantastic.

It will probably be a fine and a suspended points deduction, only enforced if their fans do something similar again...which of course they won't, so the club get away with it.

Im not so sure, the authorities do seem to have a thing for Luton and will probably love the excuse to make an example.

Having seen the footage on Sky News, does it not seem a bit familiar? I hope someone tells the FA they did the same thing, on a lesser scale with regards to the players, to us after the Johnstones Paint last season. They have previous, and it should be considered.

Watching it on the news you can see Luton fans goading & "offering out" York City fans making complete twats of themselves right in front of a policeman who was just smiling away as he was filming their antics. You have to be a complete f***ing idiot to be jumping around screaming abuse & giving it the "biggun" whilst within 3 ft of the Old Bill holding camcorders. Please send these idiots to jail & sterilise them so that they can't reproduce.

Luton is a proper shithole. I can't believe they were ever in the top flight of the football league......They were weren't they? I seem to remember as a teenager that they were up there somewhere. How the f*** did that ever happen?

I'm a Seagulls fan that has been living in York for quite a while now and I try support York whenever possible. I was lucky enough or unlucky enough as some might say to see the game and what followed at Luton today and believe me Sky Sports News doesn't do it justice. It was complete and utter anarchy.
There were around 1000 people on the pitch blocking off the City players with about 100 of them throwing the likes of coke bottles, lighters, flags, programmes, coins and even the corner flag which was snapped in half and used as a spear into the crowd and players. I didn’t think we would make it back to the car in one piece. When we stopped off at the services we spoke to some fans who travelled by coach and they said they had to be police escorted out of Luton, running red lights while being pelted with whatever Luton fans could get hold of.
I feel sorry for the actual Luton fans that were gracious in defeat and have to put scum like that who “support” their club.

A fine alone will not be a sufficient punishment. I would expect at least something along the lines of games behind closed doors or points deducted.

It’s safe to say I don’t think I’ll be heading back to Luton to support the Albion or York anytime soon.

With a f***ing plastic pitch in the late 80's! Luton is the biggest toilet in England and i hope the club never get back into the football league. Area round Kenilworth Road is almost no-go if you're not Asian.:annoyed:

In fact, watching the video, I can't actually see any Palace run up to the other end of the pitch. All I see is them getting on, celebrating and then the Wednesday come over from the side (obviously not due to goading, but because they're jealous that we're good enough to stay up and they are shit).

Agreed. Just shows what wankers South Yorkshire Police are - not fit to control crowds and never have been.

Apparently a Wednesday fan in a wheelchair managed to get on the pitch. If so, then it sums up what utter useless ***** their stewards/police really are.

Or that he was a tight Yorkshire bastard faking a disability to get a cheap season ticket.
