What a load of bollocks. You know 100% that our rivalry with Pompey is much bigger than anything you'll ever experience, and to say that we're more obsessed than you are, then why have there been a large number of threads about us in the last few months, why did you change your pre-match music for us? Why was your PA being a tosser towards us, why did you change your programme cover towards us? Why did your manager make bitter and classless comments towards us afterwards? Why did your fans take the time to make banners about us?

Hmm.
You mean you would not do the same,so classy and pure are you,I know you are the Saints in name but you are no more different from any other football fan

If Sheffield Wednesday were in Southampton's current position the owls would be accusing us of trying to steal the Blades as rivals?-we did this with Chesterfield and Reading...Southampton really need to get over themselves.

In fact to be fair to Southampton they have not had Divisional rivals for a promotion for a long time so perhaps their fans are slightly confusing this with "trying to be their rivals ahead of Pompey".

Cannot believe no one has picked this idiot up on this yet. What does that actually mean? Do you think you feel better if you beat Pompey, than we would if we beat Palace? Nonsense. A rivalry is a rivalry. When people say Man U v Liverpool is the biggest rivalry in the country, again I have to ask what they mean - in terms of the intensity felt by individual people on either side it would be no different it was Chester v Wrexham. If though, Alex, you are talking numbers at the match? Well in the 70s we regularly had more at Brighton v Palace matches than you ever had at Saints v Pompey. So you are talking "a load of bollocks".

It's always the same, people who think they support a big club have bigger rivalries - it's crap.

Completely agree with this. This whole Southampton thing has come out of them being the only (weak) competition this year for promotion, combined with twattish comments from your manager and some of the more arrogant fans. It was the exact same when fighting Reading for promotion, from both sides. You say that you dont care about us, but all the Saints fans are taking notice of what is posted on here. In any case the whole obsession on here has been frankly sad and annoying but its not like it will last very long.

Nobody is trying to make Southampton a rival. We already have a rival - Palace. We will always care more about beating them than you.

Why are we still rowing with saints fans, let's just be happy in the knowledge it will be us lifting the trophy they expected to be lifting... That's gonna piss them off more than anything we say on here.... I'm guilty of rising to the bollocks they've been speaking as much as anyone else but from now on I'm not taking the bait. Just laugh & enjoy, we are CHAMPIONS they are not & it's as simple as that

Southampton are not a big club, just a medium sized provincial one who had a decent run of top flight football & a cup success - no different from Coventry. They both over achieved for many years, in Southamptons case they seem to mistakenly feel that 3 years of comparative success coupled with around 25 years of scrabbling around for survival makes them a big club ...it doesn't. They never have been & never will anything bigger than a long list of clubs like Coventry, Palace, Swansea, middlesboro' ect. Excactly what we will be once we're in the Amex.
