Another lousy journey in making. Sat at Preston Park waiting for late running gatwick express to go in front of us. Nkw stuck behind it up to London. We could have gone straight through in front of it, but Southern controllers demknstrate their wisdom and keep us waiting 10 mins give or take.

You were sat at Preston Park for 3 minutes, though because paths are tight North of Gatwick - you missed your booked path and had to get slotted in between other trains.

How badly do you think the Sussex route will be affected with the Re - Signalling programme due to be commissioned next month?

Its Lewes - Hastings being commissioned. The work is already running late - put it that way.

All Signal boxes on the Arun Valley - Billingshurst, Pulborough, Amberley, booked to close 17th March. East Coast - April

So to summarise the view from the members past and present of the rail industry: If I turn up for a train which is late or runs late, it is my fault and not the rail industry.

It was more than 3 minutes. Also we also crawled between Three Bridges and Horley and then in the Purley area. 10 mins late today. 10 minutes yesterday and a good couple of hours on Monday.

Southern have responded to my latest complaint. Got an efficiency consultant onboard. Wonder if it will make a difference?

No, it was 3 minutes. Since Network Rail have recently allowed software developers to use their realtime train data, you can track a train now at any point in its journey, including arrival times, how much it was delayed by at what station etc - useful for delay claims. No idea of a website, but there is a couple out there.

Was delayed due to missing the path North of Three Bridges though and at Gatwick specifically - hence the crawling. Today you were 5 minutes late into Victoria, no idea why though. And having a "Efficiency Consultant" (whatever one of those actually is) wont actually help you, to be honest - Southern cant really do anything about your complaint either as they cant 100% say that nothing will go wrong and trains will always run to time.

Thats all but a given isnt it !! Still, more reliable than the old signals - this new centre at Three Bridges where Southern's control will also be based should speed up trains getting moving again too, as they can communicate directly and quicker......apparently, though i wouldnt hold my breath with that.

Why don't you find a job that requires no commuting.

Surely it might be better for your health as I would suspect you must have very high blood pressure given how angry you get with commuting.

How much do you get paid for telling the rail companies to sort it out then? Silly me has been giving them this information for free.
