Pulis was clocked doing 96mph in his BMW in a 60mph zone on the M42 after seeing his men thrashed 5-0 at Bolton, an offence that saw him exceed 12 points on his licence - and should therefore have earned him an automatic ban.
But according to a report in The Sun, his solicitor Mike Stephenson successfully argued to magistrates that Pulis would be so badly affected by losing his licence that it would put the club in danger of relegation - a punishment which would affect a huge number of people, businesses who have sunk £60 million into the club and several charities that Pulis supports up and down the country.
"They would suffer if they were relegated as a result - and the children who he would not be able to assist and the people of Stoke could suffer if Mr Pulis lost his licence," Stephenson told Leamington Spa Magistrates' Court.
Stoke are currently 14th in the table, 12 points clear of the relegation places with 10 matches left of the season.
Pulis, who is estimated to earn £1m a year, also claimed he could not use a chauffeur in case his driver discovered and then leaked secret details of transfers.
The Stoke boss, whose top-of-the-range BMW is provided free by local dealer Knights, was fined £2,500 but allowed to carry on driving despite now having 15 points on his licence.:wanker:

Russ was caught on a speed camera at 93mph in a 60mph zone and with 4 other speeding offences totted up together he received 27 points on his licence , a £395 fine and a 12 months ban.

A disgrace. The lengths people go to avoid accepting the punishment they deserve.

Can you not get this chap off the road. One disaster after another from a variety of your posts (or at least beat some sense in to him).

His ban doesn't end until next February and he wont be able to afford the £8k insurance premium anyhow (should he take the re-test) , at the moment he is confined to being a bus wanker. :lolol:

How many times is he going to act like a complete plank on the road, out of interest? What has to happen before it dawns on him that his driving seems to be putting people at risk?

Are you talking about Pulis or the other eejit?

Both of them deserve lengthy bans.

Almost every driver in the world exceeds the speed limit at some time but 96 mph in a 60 zone deserves more than a slap on the wrist.

How does that point even stand anyway?! If Stoke get relegated, that means another team don't - meaning that teams' fans aren't affected, their local businesses, charities etc.

f***ing typical, had a letter this morning from The Met about an intended prosecution against one of my blokes doing 36 in a 30 zone. Best get Mr Stephenson to defend us.

Tell me about it it have had one recently for the same speed and need to do a speed awareness course, i know this sounds arrogant but i have been driving 30 years and never had one blip why the f*ck do i need a course to tell me that i was on camera by a copper that was hiding on a road that should be a 40 limit anyway and i was just doing 6mph over the limit.

These limits need reviewing IMO>

As to Pulis he is just a knob anyway.

The secret to speeding is not getting caught.

And never ever speeding in built up areas or where there are temporary speed limits.

Worked for me. Years of motorbiking behind me and never caught once.

The argument put forward by Pulis' solicitor is something called "exceptional hardship". It can be requested on the basis that a driving disqualification would be more punishing for the individual concerned than the average person (losing one's job is not necessarily considered "exceptional"). It's by no means a foregone conclusion that it will be accepted (I've refused far more than I've allowed) but if it is, the same excuse cannot be used again and so if he gets caught again, he'll either need to accept an almost inevitable ban or come up with another reason.
Unfortunately, having considerable financial resources, he had access to a good solicitor and that quite often makes the difference between exceptional hardship being granted or not; solicitors, especially specialists, know exactly what arguments to put forward and how to best form an application. It's not fair, but then that's life.
