Can't see any snow opportunity for us now until 25th onwards. All gone against us now, but Birmingham may me interesting as they are looking likely to get some Friday night.

perhaps some transitory snow on Friday down here, but probably nothing to get excited about.

It's been very disappointing and, once again, we look like we're going to miss out after some very promising data. I'd rather we'd have had nothing than the little teasing amount yesterday prior to the rain. Mind you, I can remember winter after winter with no snow when I was a kid and teenager.

Anyway, looking at the forecast below: Dry, cold and sunny is good. A brisk, bitter wind can sod right off!

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:
Mainly dry with sunny periods. Cold or very cold, with sharp overnight frosts, ice on untreated surfaces. Thursday patchy freezing fog will slowly clear. A brisk, bitter wind will develop.

Oh well. It was all set up to be an exciting week, but it could well be two disappointing Winters in a row following two memorable Winters for us snow lovers.

There's always next year, Papa.....Or we could all just move to Norway.

I wonder if Toby Agdestein has room for us all.

There's a poster on the TWO forum, who for years lived in Bjorli in Norway - he used to regale everyone with photos and report of feet of snow. He's moved to Portsmouth now - he's not really enjoying the weather at the moment.

I think we might just let this thread slide off Page 1 for a while - I'm sure if anything is brewing it'll pop back up again.

Cheers for the updates Papa.

As much as I hate the bloody stuff this thread contains much more accurate info than anywhere else.

My dad had a colleague who moved to Norway from Brighton. He used to send Christmas cards each year featuring various photos he'd taken of his children playing in the snow, festive scenes etc. I used to be so jealous of those kids playing in the deepest snow I've ever seen. He used to ski to work for 4 months of the year too.

*sigh*

What is the % chance of this happening?

Given what has happened the last few days, who knows. But this is the most recent run and agrees somewhat to one of the other models which is encouraging.

I wouldn't like to put a % on it!

It agrees to a degree with the Met Office output, which has also just come out.

Ian Fergusson has tweeted the the internal Met Office models & Mogreps supports a less damp outlook. (whatever that means).

There was me hoping this thread could have a little rest, and up pops the mother of all blizzard!

I also noticed a comment made by him on netweather, saying that he is "Concerned" about the latest model output. Relating to the amount of snow, that is.

I'm concerned about the lack of snow, it would be robo exciting to have a 'snow event'

JUST FOR FUN... these won't actually happen... but IF they did, Saturday's match might be at risk

Midday Friday - Snow arrives – probably a little before, as it’s well over us by then.
