Just got a text asking me to apply. The link sends me to what is apparently the GOV.UK site, and it does look exactly right. Loads of info on there too. I am loath to fill it in as I am a cynical ******* and I think it may be a scam

Anyone else had this text? Whaddya think?

As I say it does look 100% on the level

The £400 support will be administered by your energy provider.

Never ever fill in forms from unsolicited text messages or emails.

I've heard about this.

Quite why the government haven't asked the BBC and media to run a top headline and first on the news is beyond me. Loads of older folk will get caught out.

All mobile phone companies should send their own texts out about it.

They will, it IS the GOV.Uk site to all intents and purposes.

I’ll have a go at showing the link

Convincing eh?

There are warnings out there, should have looked before posting

I tried clicking on that link and it took me to a screen saying: "Firefox blocked this page because it may trick you into doing something dangerous like installing software or revealing personal information like passwords or credit cards." There was a link if I wished to proceed (I didn't).

Well done Firefox anyway - hope other platforms have done similar.

Yes and I deleted it immediately, you do not get anything like this via a text message,

Please delete anything like this through text messages, they are ALL SCAMS.

Because it wouldn’t solve the problem. There are loads of scams and many target elderly people. The news would be full of it every day. It wouldn’t even stop this particular scam because give it a few days and the headline impact would wane.
