Solly March & Jake Forster-Caskey - England U21 call up

Whilst I disagree with this point, it's not why I called him a troll. That was for his many ridiculous comments throughout the season.
The 'shows what you know' referred to his assertion that Jake isn't any good.

There are a few players in that squad who can play one game- in Swansea- but who will then be left out for the Toulon tournament. Tom Ince, Zaha, Lingard & Danny Ings are those four. Rohan's birthday is round about the same time as those four, hence it was unlikely that he was going to make the squad as a long term prospect.

Although Tom Ince & Zaha have been crap this season, they'd still get a call up based on previous history. I doubt Southgate would bring in a new U21 who could only play one game before being too old, ie Rohan, unless he'd had an exceptional season like Ings.

Fair enough on both counts.

Manager wanting to have as strong a squad as possibles, bearing in mind a few who would have been eligible (Stones, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Sterling, Barkley etc) have been taken for the full squad?

Ings definitely makes sense, he's had the sort of season that begs to be given a chance. I also can't believe he's only 21: looks much older.

Agree on Tom Ince & Zaha though: neither deserve it on form & it's a waste of a space. The places could have gone to two players who might actually benefit, whereas you feel like Zaha will feel it's beneath him, & arse about doing pointless stepovers then giving the ball away as he has done on the rare occasions he's played this season.

I get Ings as he might be a late developer who maybe has something but obviously not going to be risked for the full team. But given that we're almost guaranteed to qualify, why not give those who are 17/18/19 a go? Unless we have an amazing full team, don't like seeing players of 20,21,22 etc in the U21s. Especially those who are nowhere near the full team.

It would be very easy to produce a long, LONG list of absolute dross that has had a run out for the U21s in the last few years.

Would it. Or would you produce a list of talented youngsters who hadn't turned into the players some thought they would?

Absolutely.

Now can you redirect me to the criticism thread, please?

Certainly. There is a wide choice of threads on this subject available for your perusal: which style would you prefer?

-the traditional Goldstone West Stand Moan; -the Late Night Irrational Post-Match Drunken Rant;
-the It Must Be Half Term Spelling & Grammar Fiesta
-or the I Want The Moon On A Stick & I Don't See Why Tony Bloom Can't Provide That For Me?

Let me know & I'll dig one out

Emil Asmundsson has made it into the Iceland U19 squad, and Dylan Barnett has made it to the Ireland U19 squad for the Championships elite qualifying round. They play eachother on 28th May.

Never heard of him.. any info on him?

Never heard of the Dylan kid until someone mentioned him on here earlier today. Asmundsson is a regular in our development squad. I found out they were in the squads on Soccarways. That means we have 2 players in the Toulon tournament and three playing for the U19s Elite competition. Something to be proud of I think.
