Thinking of you Boroseagull and all others who have been personally affected.
Although I am now back in Kenya I am amazed what impact this has had on me. I had nightmares on Saturday night about this and a rather restless sleep last night too. Anyone else experiencing this?

Just read the entire thread for the first time this morning. Can't begin to imagine what you, and Westdene Seagull, have been through. Hoping you get the same good news he did through as soon as possible.

I picked my Dad (@beakyburn) up from Lancing at 1pm, then headed up to the A27 towards the game like so many of us probably did. We went through that area probably between 1.10-1.15 and saw those sitting on the side by the Sussex Pad and said to each other "what a beautiful day to be sitting there watching the Airshow.". Five minutes later........I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

Yes, I woke up a couples of times both nights, as my mind replayed the video images I'd seen online; once awake, I struggled to get back to sleep.
I'm nowhere near Shoreham (although am originally from Lancing), and do not know anyone involved in Saturday's tragedy, but I still kinda feel shocked and numb, and genuinely sad for the victims and their families.
Obviously you haven't heard from your brother, do you know which friend he was going with, and can anyone help with getting an update?

I can't say that I had a similar experience but it was incredibly surreal hearing the sirens going on late into the night from my bedroom. Add in a teething child and it left a lot of time for a mind to wander.

Completely with you on that. FB over the weekend has really shown how small the degree of separation is with something like this.
Saturday afternoon, I spot Brett as I wander across WSU, and in the evening I have an appeal for a friend of a friend who has gone missing. By Sunday morning, that friend of a friend has had his car identified in the crash, and there is Brett in the REMF photo with the Worthing players.
I can't begin to imagine the horrors for those for who the degree of separation is much less, but my heart goes out to them as I've barely thought about anything else this last 36 hrs, and the fact that so many bodies are yet to be identified is horrific. You check you immediate family and closest friends are clear of it, but you simply don't contact everyone you know or knew from school days or a previous job.

So true.
My brother (who like me also works for the Police) took the intial few 999 calls about the incident and had to hurriedly get someone to call me to see if I was ok, as I live just a few hundred yards from the crash site. I was oblivious as I was in the club shop at the Amex with my lad, but on hearing the news, went into a brief panic as I desperately called my wife to check that she and my two girls were safe at home in Lancing - and thankfully they were.
It really shakes you up just being indirectly involved, so I cant imagine the feelings and thoughts going through the heads of those who are still suffering, be it that they knew confirmed victims, or are painfully waiting like BoroSeagull is having to live with. Horrendous all of it.

Mild PTSD and perfectly normal.
The fact that we're all so close to this incident, whether geographically or mentally (friends/family/familiarity of the area), makes it quite tough to deal with.

Does it matter? I like many people on here know someone who was friends with one of the victims. It could have been anyone of us - that's the horrific thing about this, it just shows life is just not fair sometimes. These were normal people, men on their way to football. I too can't get my head round this
If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.
