In the old days, Harley would have been helped by a spell in the Reserves, but now it's called the Development Squad that doesn't seem to be an option any more.

Maybe we need a Kick Up The Arse squad.

Sorry if I have missed a thread somewhere, but what is happening with Harley. Is he injured......or just not selected.

Agreed. We have an excellent squad now, and Harley is part of that excellent squad. If we still had 7 subs he would have been on the bench yesterday. No doubt he'll be on the bench again before this season ends.

Harley has been disappointing this season without doubt. With the midfield options we've got, it makes sense to loan him out where he can regular games & maybe rediscover the potential form that Gus obviously saw in him.

It would be the best option for both the player & the club.

Can't or won't tackle
Slows play down to his own pace.
Can't run with the ball
Not on the same wave length as others

He's scored one free kick all season so the likelihood of Harley being bounced back because he's improved is pretty remote I'd say. Totally inept player on all fronts.......not good enough at this level

But apart from that what else did the Romans do for us?

He just needs a run in the side, which he is unlikely to get at the moment but with injuries and suspensions over the next couple of months who knows? I have seen glimpses of a good creative player, but his style and the lacklustre TEAM performances in most of the games he's been involved in make him a perfect scapegoat.

For a dead ball "specialist" has he done anything else from a set piece apart from that free kick? Oh yeah, there was that FANTASTIC penalty against Millwall

Whilst he delivered an excellent corner against newcastle (which actually vicente can take as well now) he had been utter pony.

Anyone at reading and cov (amongst other games) would have seen poor free kick after poor corner. To say dean cox was better is frankly unfair to dean cox.

Then there was the time he bottled that 50/50 against the toon by the northstand north west. El Pres had to hold me back from wsu front row or i would have ended up in 1901.

Lots of players have that charge levelled at them. Hoddle and Waddle were two. Not that Harley is an either of those two - but a laconic demeanour does open up that charge.

With only 5 subs, people are going to miss out, a lot of competition for places which is great. The games are coming thick and fast now and I'm sure Harley will be involved and slot in just fine when called upon.

A pair of black boots and a bit of effort in a couple of positive performances could massively change perceptions - but I haven't seen any evidence that either are likely.

I don't understand the snide vitriol filled meanspiritedness towards Harley/Barnes/Navarro/Vicente/Ankergren and others. Have people got so little in their pathetic little lives that the only pleasure they get is from slagging off the players and others? Only two months ago we had the first of the "Gus, in or out" threads as went through a poor patch on the pitch.

Too many have short memories, no understanding of football finance and a chip on their shoulder.

Harley has shown some good touches, has excellent vision but has struggled to impose himself enough to regularly win a place in the team. I hope he turns it round because he could play an important role at some point later in the season, others would rather he fails because their assessment of him (or the others listed above) is more important than the Albion succeeding, and frankly that baffles me.
