Perhaps your definition of 'winning lots of things' is managing big teams. Personally I have never rated him. Allardyce was manager of some big teams and even England but he was rubbish. England has had some real duff managers so being a manager for it is not prerequisite with actually being good. Maybe I should add some laughing emojis and swear a bit to emphasise my point?

Big Sam had a very watchable team when he was at Bolton from memory?

Roy won lots of things on the continent, that is a FACT!

Needs to shut his mouth then and say his future will be decided after the season has finished and that’s it

I used to find his honesty refreshing but he goes too far.

Emotional Intelligence needs to be front and centre of our next appointment as the last two haven’t didn’t / havent got enough of it
I gather Potter is available.

So the burning question is - and will remain - how does the club realistically get to that next level? The 30k Amex comfortably sells out week on week, the club makes humungous profits on players by astute buying and selling while paying comparatively modest wages by EPL standards. What kick-starts the concerted push to the next level? There's a valid conversation to be had there. And one I strongly suspect RDZ will be having with TB sooner rather than later
First step to get to that next level is to find people who are true professionals who keep internal stuff internal and dont fill our club with the sort of negativity making us talk about him when we could be talking football. Doleful and dull Italian sitting with his arms crossed saying were going to lose and our players are too bad and making all kinds of excuses while telling us we will always love him whatever happens next. You seem like a driven ambitious guy what do you really see in this manager?

Can you imagine NSC if TB sees him as the right man after RDZ packs his bags and gets in his FIAT 500?
The scenes would be a joy to behold :lolol:

He had a bunch of flair players in a very average team. On the one hand he had Jay-Jay Okocha and Youri Djourkaeff, on the other he was relying on long throws from Anthony Barness for chance creation.
Plus he was a lardy snide.

The question before that is what is the next level? We can’t increase capacity. We’ve never won a trophy and few do in the era of state sponsors whilst leaping to paying big money in wages and transfers is a flawed science and can quickly bankrupt clubs. Most transfers don’t work out. To cushion against you need money that probably makes Bloom look poor.
A good challenge in response to a good point. We have a brilliant business model but like most big businesses there are gaps in the strategy, or perhaps gaps in the plans to achieve that strategy. For us to achieve the next level we need to:
Define what that means
Continually punch above our weight
Have some luck, eg with injuries
Rely on FFP (or whatever) to operate properly, consistently and fairly
Keep growing the commercial side of the
Business and fan base

I define two levels below us as relegation, one level below us as looking over our shoulder with some worry, our level as top half with capability of beating top teams on our day and getting into Europe.

Level above us is consistently getting into Europe with a shout of CL.

Above that is CL, then top 2 then ……

The rider to all this is what our rivals are doing.

Good grief! What a thoroughly depressing and (mostly) negative read this thread was/is. If we get thumped 5 - 0 today, I'd probably feel happier than I did having waded through this lot.
If the players have half of the pessimism and negativity that's been shown here, I doubt we'll get another point for the rest of the season.

At least RDZ isn’t a self proclaimed specialist. Neither are very effective in this area, where as much as the outside noise shouldn’t be a driver, perception in this game is.

RDZ hasn’t said anything that isn’t true and something the majority of the fanbase will think will be discussed at the end of the season. I don’t see how the thinks creating this side show with ten games to go helps the remainder of the season.

It’s not well thought out but equally I can’t imagine RDZ agreeing with someone that puts this to him either!

Alternatively he has thought about it and is subtlety pushing to be dismissed / mutually exited to avoid the release fee which puts off half the suitors

It beats having won f*** all anywhere though I think?
OK, you have defended Woy valiantly. You have seen off all his critics. You have made mockery of my suggestion he would be an embarrassing appointment.

So you'd welcome him as our next manager, then? ???

Yes on it's own. But not when it's the main justification for how great he is. There are some wonderful Vanarama managers out there I believe.

I think a manager who wins the championship has greater credentials than one who has won a few bits and pieces in those minor European leagues.

FFS.
It’s the posts about his ego that astound me. A man who stayed in Ukraine when Russia attacked until all his players were safe.
That is not the actions of an egotist.

20 years ago MAYBE, now, nah

You have now embarrassed me in my defence of Roy
This is how you test a hypothesis. Examine it in a variety of ways until it is destroyed or remains intact.
There is no shame in that. It's call the Scientific Method
