Hmm, if true that Chelsea and City are interested, and €35m release clause, having just lost Zaha to Turkey, that would be a serious worry.
Fab doesn’t say stuff without some level of knowledge.
With Mahrez gone, I can see City being interested.
I agree. Olise’s agent would know if there was a clause or not. He’s also probably got Fab on WhatsApp and has decided his client should have a move.

What sort of club would let one of their prize assets leave for £35M, when he is clearly worth more.

Hope Palace manage to get some add ons added to the deal.

Reports that Chelsea have offered £4m more than his release clause in a bid to get him before City.
Yet they can't put a decent bid in for Moises.
Just shows their scattergun approach To recruitment hasn't stopped.
Looks like Palace will lose Olise as well as Zaha.

Along with the news that their main target to replace them is Demari Gray.

They don’t like that news either…

Paranoid of laughing readers?, bbs have over the years drastically cut the time you get, two or three clicks in and you’re blocked for x days.

Are you a member? I was for a while, but they block you if you rarely log in.

What a sh1t forum, matching the hideous stadium. Most other fora allow unlimited viewing from guests.

9 year contract helps
This is what is making the difference. It's security for their entire career. There are loads of players who have had a bad injury which has ended their top level career. By accepting Chelsea's offer they are now totally insulated against this.

It doesn't mean they will be at Chelsea the whole time. The younger ones may accept loans, or if they do well they might be offered a similar package elsewhere. The package may be lower with the promise of more football somewhere else, but crucially they have the option of whether to accept that offer. Going to Chelsea puts the player in complete control of their career.

In fairness to Moses why would'nt you go to Chelsea and get paid what is probably best part of £1m a month for the next 8/9 years? I'm not convinced it's in the best interest of a young footballer football wise as they've made it, but if the opportunity is there then you have to take it.

These aren't the players you're looking for.

But what does it mean for Chelsea, when the inevitable happens and some of these signings don't work out?

Hunger is a huge motivation and without that some players are liable to become complacent and lazy.

They're potentially going to have a changing room full of Winston Bogardes who they can't shift.

Their strategy is fundamentally flawed.

8 year contracts on an awful lot of money will win most players for Chelsea until the Saudi's come knocking.

Almost as bad as a club that sets a release clause for the same amount as they paid for the player in the first place - therby ensuring little profit (Leeds & Adams).
