I'll be there - No worries. Really looking forward to remembering such a good mate in good company.

Question.

Is there a Porno cinema in Haywards Heath for me to stay in - I understand that the last train from HH is on a Wednesday and I don't much fancy the M25 on about 20 pints and nostalgia?

Stick him in the boot!

he knocked around with paul both had skinheads boots and braces around that time i think lee phillips was with them that day![/QUOTE

MT went to Dorothy Stringer and certainly looked the part: Bosun, Crombie (with silk hankie!), levis, Ben Sherman, polished DM's, skin/suade head, etc. Trouble was the police knew him and watched his every move - not much fun when you went out drinking with him.....but at away matches always seemed to be at the front. I remember being first off the train with him at Selhurst once .... only for him to start singing "who's that copper with a tit on his head" to a line of about 50 waiting police (see you later Marcus).

I have to post now !

Hello to ALL of you,
My first ever post prompted by this thread.....
I was in the mini bus to Hereford and remember it fondly for many reasons. Mick, Rory, Rod, Lee, John, Martyn, little Chris et al. Good shout from Lee at the end of the match when the Hereford came onto the pitch "STAND YOUR GROUND ITS COMING ON". I was extremely merry on the way back and sang with most of the barmaids we met every twenty minutes or so as the mini bus cooled down. I see Pasty regularly now so we'll ensure we get to meet up.
My thoughts are with you Chris and Sarah...

Afternoon everyone, I knew Martin when i was very young, he use to go to away games in my uncles Hooli coaches, (Rod and Rory), Im the little lad (yes little) outside the coach in one of the pics way back in the 70s,I have some great memories form some trips, Then worked with Martin at Amex, We use to on occasions have lunch together in the canteen (sadly no proper currys)and put the world to rights.
He will be sadly missed by all and i am looking forward to seeing everyone up the savannah for the odd pint or two, chatting about a great bloke and seeing a few older uglier faces from the past.
Matt !!

Depends how mini you are, any Blyth worth their salt would have been down t' pit by the age of 5 so unless you spent all your money on make up, having your hair done and beer, just like dad, you must have couple of bob saved up.

I'm sure he wanted be a lumberjack.

Now that’s a real man. I did not make that match but did fall off a ladder when RR put the pig’s bladder in the onion bag. Kin hurt.

Chris mentioned 25 saw off 200 at Kenilworth, just as well I missed it, 26 versus 200 would have been unfair. And it was my fault Ian the coach driver got so pissed.

Not sure about having a beer with you Mr Philpott, the last time we met was the cancelled game away to Norwich when we trained it to Wooftah City and piled into the Lord Nelson at 10.30 after a fry up. McClick broke the World Early Chunder record by barfing before midday, some say he saw a Watneys sign, I say he never could hold his beer.

Geoff told me to hit him if I saw him touching shorts, I think he meant the drink but you never knew in Brighton. As he was 6’ 12” and about 328 stone I decided not to bother. At chucking out time, 3pm in those days, those still standing, or in most cases, staggering, went to Roddy’s mum’s in Hove where I recall technicolour yawning on her hall carpet and passing out. That was my first day off from work for four months and I spent 7 hours of it awake, all of it getting or being pissed or staggering somewhere. Great day out, well worth the wait.

One more story about Martyn, Mallorca ’82, 4 o’clock in the morning he wanted a cup of tea. “We’re British old chap, we always take tea at four,” (actually it is 3 but I did not like to tell him) so off we went to find a tea shop. Funnily enough there was one round the next corner so five of us trooped in, sat at the counter, absolutely blattered and barely able to keep our eyes open and Martyn ordered 5 teas. Pedro could not believe what he was seeing but being foreign, he also could not make tea and not only did it taste foul we were not given any milk. “Leche, por favour,” I asked in my best O level Spanish, at which point the sadist gave us a carton of Nestle’s finest Condensed. Unbelievably, Martyn picked up the carton and poured it into his cup, right to the top and gulped it down. “That’s better, it’s quite nice with this stuff,” and handed me the carton.

I never trusted him ever again but did let him sleep with my girlfriend, once.

It helped put the wife off the scent, that's how good a mate he was.

Reevesy
