Not exactly the situation any club can sign him on 30th Jan on a 93 day loan and see out the season or when the loan window opens to cover the play offs. In theory we could agree a purchase deal for the summer and take him on loan until then, not that I think we will, he will join Reading for £2m this window.

That’s exactly what I said but in a different order. He can only be signed on a short term loan (e.g. maximum of 93 days) so would not be available for the whole rest of the season. We can’t buy him or loan him for the rest of the season. Short term loans are also subject to potential recall after the first month.

The point is a loan on 30th Jan would see out our season subject of course to possible recall. Doesnt this recall have to be done by deadline day in March, I am not sure.
