i'm talking about a poacher/natural goal scorer, not all round skills (or it would be george best)

i'm going for ian rush

Pretty sure I would have Bergkamp in that list somewhere.

RVP?

If you are talking about the six yard box only? Then Lineker and Rush for me.

Van nistelrooy, Bergkamp, Van Persie and Drogba should be on the list. Although for me it's Henry! He was unplayable!

Do not think I would have included Clive Allen but it is an impressive list.

Difficult one. Opted for Greaves in the end.

Trouble with this list most of the voters are too young to remember Greaves, turn on a sixpence and get goals out of nothing...goalpoacher supreme...

Is he seriously a better striker than Thierry Henry though? Henry was the best I've ever seen! I am from the younger generation so haven't seen much footage of Greaves but he'd have to have been seriously good to better Henry!

Although I suppose Henry was more than a poacher... For pure poaching I'd say Van Nistelrooy! Was greaves seriously a better poucher than Ruud?

Bit of a misleading thread title lol. Best striker Henry, best poacher Van Nistelrooy!

Jimmy Greaves played 57 times for England with 44 goals scored...what a scoring rate that is!

Only saw him play once. I was at school. West Ham v Spurs just after he and Peters had swapped teams. He was coming to the end of his career but still scored that day. Massive crowd that day as well.

Ian Rush, surely the best strike rate (bar one wasted season at Juve)

Always liked the finishing of Martin Chivers.

None of those are in the same class as a goal poacher as the likes of Greaves who needed a passport to get out of the 6 yd box. He was the best by far as a poacher but to my mind Georgie Best was the best footballer all round.

Only have to look at his career stats to see he was the ultimate goal machine. Doubt he'll ever be touched. And missed the World Cup final in 66 through injury in the early rounds and no subs at the time. Geoff Hurst kept his place and the rest is history.

Never saw Best play in the flesh, the selfish bastard retired too young and just before I started watching the albion. Had he carried on to his early 30s would probably have seen him play against the Albion. So, whilst I never saw him in the flesh, every clip you see of him he is magic to watch. Entertaining, innovative and some on here would call it showboating but he was surely the best. The only other player I wish I had seen of that era would have been Pele.
