When I see our finish to last season yet again I'm still finding really hard to believe that we actually missed out on going up. What I wouldn't give for table above to look the same for our last 18 games next season, but sadly that may be wishful thinking off course.

The finish of the top three teams must have been pretty well unprecedented. One team normally has a wobble but the run in form of all three was impressive. Any other season would have seen us overhaul one of the top two with our form from January but it turns out we were a smidgen too far behind after our poor run at Xmas. What a season though, hard to stay disappointed. I was thoroughly entertained and after all that is what is about for the fans isn't it?

I think Murray is the Zamora replacement to compete with Hemed as the target man and we'll get a new first choice striker to play alongside one of them, with Baldock as back up. It may well be that this striker is a statement of intent. I just don't understand how we're screwed if we don't (which some people seem to be claiming).

Murray must be the replacement for Zamora.

I'm still hoping for a pacey player who will play off the shoulder of the last man and cause havoc for centre backs and create space in between the midfield and defence with his darting runs. Also if he can run towards the front post and score a bucket load of tap ins from balls into the box from our wingers

You deflect away from the season long fact that the team was short of strikers, with victim culture finger pointing.
You then get titsy when [MENTION=1416]Ernest[/MENTION] calls you Pravda, you can't have it both ways.

Was never going to get the job done.

The team had a fantastic season, they played the very best AMEX era football, but that was despite the forwards not because of them.
All the strikers had terrific runs, moments of greatness, but far too often they were missing.
There were even games without a recognised striker on the bench, and far too many draws that were never going to wins, even if they were still out there now.

The hierarchy need to learn from that, and bite the horrific financial bullet, to make sure that doesn't happen again.

No amount of boo-hooing about the referee in 2 or 3 games changes the fact that for the entirety of the season the Albion's short fall in competitive strikers cost the club promotion.

We scored 9 more goals than Middlesbrough, the same number as Burnley.

The three or four games that we scored heavily towards the end of the season masks the FACT that we were lightweight upfront until January. Less goals and more wins would have seen us over the line as would beating rather than drawing with the teams that finished above us

We conceded more than Burnley or Middlesbrough. Red cards and letting go of two goal leads were damaging.

Some people do seem to have wet there nickers over the thought of Murray signing...it's 3rd of July!...plenty of time for something else to happen...FACT is that we all know a couple of strikers are needed. As I recall quite a few peeps were underwhelmed by the signings we made preseason last year....they didn't do to badly did they.
