Do you know the meaning of hyperbole? Words like outstanding which came from you, not me.

No high horse here, just laughing at your protestations.

Yes thank you, taken from the Oxford English dictionary - Exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally

I said that BZ did OK, you argued

I think Murray is the Zamora replacement to compete with Hemed as the target man and we'll get a new first choice striker to play alongside one of them, with Baldock as back up. It may well be that this striker is a statement of intent. I just don't understand how we're screwed if we don't (which some people seem to be claiming).

Lets hope so..

Says who? Hemed got 17 goals. Why won't he match that? He'll have experience of the Championship behind him. Baldock only got four goals (and WIlson five) so matching that won't be hard and I'm confident Murray could get the seven goals that Zamora did. We also have more goals from midfield now than we did at the start of last season.
and that wasn't enough.
Like for like swaps and hoping Tomer has another stellar season, ideally without the long barren spells, still gets you nothing in the division.

Yes the team got better in January.
But you can have the best wingers in the world, we're likely to have the best in the division, but if nobody is there to put the ball in the net, we'll just be repeating all of last season's mistakes.

Murray hasn't played for almost a season.
Nobody can have any confidence in Baldock.
The youth set up has produced a creditable striker in my lifetime.

The whole set up of the club changes after the signing of a eyebrow raising striker.
1 genuine striker (Ulloa) and 1 failed striker (CMS) plus 20 odd loan strikers is why the team has repeatedly failed, at the AMEX.

That needs to change for promotion.

You claimed I had said he was outstanding. I didn't. You used hyperbole in your false claim.

So many points dropped but we got 89 points. Usually 89 points is enough for automatic. You want blood!
No I wanted promotion, and guess what those points dropped cost the club that.
They were dropped because of all the (great) games that were played last season, in hindsight, so many could have been filed under 'well we were never going to win today'.

You are just arguing for arguments sake. Pretty much every season in recent years, we would have gone up with 89 points. We strengthened at Christmas and were top two in the second half of the season. Murray scored three goals in 12 games last season so hardly hasn't played for almost a season. Baldock is an option. Not great but he was a regular in a team that came third last season and our bad run came when he was injured.

To be honest it seems like you are just trying to be negative. We were amazing last season and really unlucky not to go up. We've not sold anyone and are trying to strengthen. I am struggling to see why you are so negative.

The Championship table after the January transfer window suggests we weren't too bad once we had our squad assembled.

I think it was yellow & red cards that cost us, not lack of goals.

Yep absolutely, I just don't want to go through that all again and still come up short.

Is there any reason why we didn't get promoted that wasn't because we didn't score enough goals ? Anything ?

We conceded a few too many too

But unfortunately not quite good enough to prevent Middlesbrough making up a five point deficit, with us having a game in hand too. Mind you, you could also say Middlesbrough's second half of the season must have been awesome!

If we were to rewind NSC six months would we find one poster launching a rigorous defence of Hemed, our strikers, and our set-up? Then again I might be tipsy by now.

Edit: am tipsy now.

Quite the opposite. That table shows the results of matches played after the window closed. We made up a 5 point gap on THEM, despite playing one less game.
