Does anyone actually give a toss about the Diamond Jubilee?

Yes, I know we're getting a couple of extra days holiday, but with the amount of ad's the BBC are doing, it's coming across like the second coming. I'm genuinely not that fussed about having a party for a very (VERY) rich old dear.

I just can't seem to get excited about it.

No. no I don't.

Nor do I care at all about the Olympics (way too much throwing spears at nothing in particular).

Not in the slightest...waste of money if you ask me.....but then again, i am a proud Republican. The extra days holiday just means more work for me, i run a bar for a living!

Exactly the same as me. No interest what so ever. Total waste of money but the extra day off is tidy.
The Olympics just means I know exactly when not to go to London

What pisses me off is the Govt / Royal Family don't pay for the day off, employers do, so chucking in an extra day is a no cost slap on the back for them meanwhile we lose sales and have to pay for the pleasure! Grump over, keep calm and carry on.

Work for a catering company and we have a raceday up Brighton racecourse on Thursday and Friday, on Saturday we have 6 weddings scattered all over the place, a diamond Jubili themed raceday at fontwell on Sunday, and another raceday at fontwell on Wednesday, so I'll prob sleep when it's all over

There is always something special about a Chain of Beacons. Sussex has always made a spectacular contribution.

"For swift to east and swift to west the ghastly war-flame spread —
High on St. Michael’s Mount it shone: it shone on Beachy Head.
Far on the deep the Spaniard saw, along each southern shire,
Cape beyond cape, in endless range, those twinkling points of fire."

nope, taking the opportunity of three days holiday for 9 days off work and going for an over-sea's jaunt.

Yes I do, makes us celebrate a Monarch who has watched over a huge amount of change in her reign, it also is a chance to celebrate our history and the more traditional meanings of Britishness.
