For a club that was in the Prem until relatively recently, Charlton's away support is BOBBINS.

so we won't sell out the South Stand except for Leeds, Palarse [ cos its palarse], West am, Forest and Leicester unless the novelty factor kicks in for the other clubs

They're average figures remember so take into account Middlesbrough's fans who went to Bristol on a Tuesday night or vice versa. I'd guess the away end at the Amex will be sold out 75% of the time

Probably fairly unlikely that more than about 5 will sell out their allocation at the Amex then, even if it is a MUST SEE stadium.

edit: just seen Mchane's post. 75%? No chance!

Southampton will sell out too, as will Birmingham.

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
Dissapointing figures in my opinion.
I would however be quite opptimistic that larger numbers will travel to us for the weekend

Ok, I may have overestimated somewhat! Just think a lot of fans will make weekend's of it and away numbers will swell for the first season for the new stadium alone. As El Pres says, you have to add West Ham, Birmingham and Saints to that list too and you've lost teams like PNE, Scunthorpe and Swansea

Will our away following necessarily be as big next year? Bear in mind that some people who hated Withdean and focused on away games may now have season tickets for Falmer and may choose to travel less. Just a theory.

Perhaps but you have to counter balance that with the influx of "new" fans and people starting to go away that may never have been before.

Not sure about Birmingham selling out their allocation, they don't travel with big numbers.
They do when playing seaside teams - it's a big tradition resulting from them being so far from the sea. The biggest and noisiest away crowd at the Goldstone that I can remember was Birmingham in about '94.

So much for palace and their poor away following.A team that picked up ONE away point on a Saturday and in a league they have been in for a number of years still get above the average away attendance for the division.
Well done on getting a couple of hundred more per game, brilliant for a team that looked odds on for the championship since early Christmas.

I love the decimal points in that table... like it gives it some mathematical credibility, when the numbers are dependant on dodgy turnstile operators and the honesty of football league clubs in declaring their revenues.

Oh look, a Palace fan has come to try and turn this into a bitchfest. Well done.
