Pascal Groß still needs to be in the team to take the corners.

Absolutely not - we look far more dangerous as an attacking force when Gross is not on the pitch - he slows our attacks down ! Mooy’s passing and delivery is the closest thing we’ve got to a De Bruyne. And if Ali J can maintain and build on Saturday’s performance then I’d rather see him starting regularly ahead of Gross. AJ was whipping in some superb low balls into the box which Maupay will get far more joy from once an understanding is established. Failing that I’d play Alzate ahead of Gross.

I think you also have to say he seems a quiet, non exuberant sort of guy. He also has to show respect to his parent club, which he has done. Im not reading anything into the interview

Aye....remember the club interview video when he first signed...he was so quiet you could hardly hear him and the word shy doesn’t do it justice

But I think you've managed to get quite a few agreeing with him.

Indisputably more performances for Brighton like the one last Saturday before ward or zamora need concern themselves

...or Vicente, or Lawrenson, or Bennett, or Gotsmanov, or Bridcutt, or Stevens, or Penney, or Nelson, or Bruno...

Or for that matter, Stephens, Pröpper, Dunk or Murray

When I say in the conversation for 'best', I mean the absolute best player for Brighton, not best for their level, nor best before us or after they left us. Penney, Nelson, Zamora, Vicente aren't even in the conversation. I would also discount almost all from the 79-83 teams as I don't believe the quality of the then first division was anywhere near the current Premier league. And I'm talking attacking players only, I don't think you can really compare with defenders and if we had too I would give the accolade hands down to Dunk.

And I fully acknowledge its all hyperbole and way too early, but what's the point of this site if not for sticking your neck out :p He's now in the conversation with Stephens, Knockaert, Murray, Gross, Maupay and possibly Ward. Quite frankly I think he's already had as many top quality games in half a season as Propper has had in two and a half, but we can put him in the mix too if people like.

Its just a prediction anyway, he has to stay at this level of play first.... But I think he will

Sorry if somebody has mentioned it already, but I just read on a Colchester United forum that Bristol City (and former U's) attacking midfielder Sammie Szmodics is being linked with a loan move to Huddersfield. If so, this may be to replace Mooy as they know they won't be getting him back permanently?

Why are you on a colchester forum ?!

Mooy isn’t far behind.......

I'm absolutely not calling for Gross to be dropped as I really like him, but the emergence of Alireza and Mooy's recent form and set piece delivery mean that his claim for an automatic starting place is shakier than any time since he's been at the club. Then you have to consider he may be the one to miss out if GP wants to go with 2 strikers.

Ferocious competition for places ... as it should be

Plus I’d much rather Mooy didn’t get any more attention drawn to him right now
He's shit, and part of the reason we're only 14th, and part of the reason Huddersfield got relegated. FACT!

Mooys comments in the Argus today aren’t super encouraging.
...
“I don’t know what’s going to happen but I am definitely enjoying Brighton.

“I don’t have control over these things.

“I just turn up and train hard and try to play my best”
Sounds encouraging enough to me.

Naylor says signing him permanently is inevitable (latest Athletic article)
Yes, Naylor said in the summer.

If it is already tied up with an option that is great. If not, we don't want a bidding war in June !

Think he's probably right on this one. If we don't do the deal in January (despite the denials of any discussions I'm not convinced we won't) we'll do it in the summer. Not reading too much into what Mooy himself is saying - he is so shy and understated it's a wonder they got him in front of a camera or got a quote at all. Hudds chairman has already hinted at 'discussions', Mooy has at least publicly said he's settled, and very much enjoying playing under Potter 'which suits his style' and his good mate Maty is here too..............A competing offer from a bigger club (ie more money) is the only thing that can derail it really (other than injury or a very unlikely catastrophic loss of form) - I think that technically could come in January too (but he wouldn't be able to play for anyone else so would stay with us on loan anyway) ??
