How is it more of an impact, in percentage terms the fee on a £12 ticket is far more than a ticket costing £30 or more.

It's the same impact - it's £1. The booking fee shouldn't increase or for a more expensive ticket. The ticket's not bigger, there isn't more admin

My memory of the late 70s was that we generally had 6-7,000 at London away days.

I'm sure we generally had the whole Whitehorse Lane end at Selhurst in those days (before Sainsburys was built).

I'd also love to see footage of that. I've been told I was shown on Grandstand standing on a crush barrier conducting the singing. Also pretty sure my mate and I led the charge onto the pitch. He was faster than me and Mullery (who had been standing by the dugouts) only just got into the changing rooms before him and slammed the door in his face!
I remember the police saying they'd escort us to the station as the locals would attack us and we just laughed at them. In the event, most of the locals congratulated us when we finally made our way back down the hill.

Tottenham mentioned above is one famous one where we took loads in a massive overall crowd. Newcastle no-one is sure about the actual figure but more than 6K seems widely accepted. And then there are the string of league games v. Palace - how many did we take there in the 70s? Numbers will always be exaggerated but the biggest must have pushed 6K+...?

Match was drawn and with it went our promotion hopes. Mass pitch invasion and broken crossbar at the end of the game.

I have always reckoned we took well over 10k to Spurs in 1977. Their previous home crowds were 26,311 when they beat Bristol Rovers 9-0, and followed that with 30,634 when they beat Burnley 3-0. 2 weeks later the crowd was 48,613 versus the Albion ! It was the first time we had played Spurs in living memory, and I can't believe that the increase of 18,000 from their previous home game comprised an additional 12,000 Spurs fans and only 6,000 Albion ? I know I stood underneath the Shelf, and there were loads of Albion fans about, although most kept themselves to themselves as it was a pretty intimidating place. And their following home match was against Southampton when the crowd was 37,873 !

I remember a Brighton fan going up to a Aldershot official and giving him some money to go towards the broken crossbar!

I remember that. On the way back we were quiet, probably from the shock. Some Neecastle fans shouted...' You owt to be singing man' in thick Geordie accents. Nice as pie but we had a police escort all the way back to the station and onto the seagulls special train. Waited about 20 mins until the players arrived. All the players came through the train. Lawrenson with his arm in plaster propped up the bar getting pissed. Players carried off the train at Brighton station at 3.00am and then straight into the casino for more drinking. They sold commemorative shields on the train back and I had every player sign mine. Still proudly displayed in my study. Amazing memories.... I was 14 then.

Last one from me but how about the promotion party at Port Vale. Probably only 3-4,000 but most were in one pub beforehand singing '3 in a row' ( we'd been promoted twice in a row, and bit optimistic as we were relegated next season. That pub will never have better takings than that Saturday lunchtime.

Another one that sticks out as a big away following is Orient away when we won L2. I was only little so probably wasn't as many as I thought but it felt like tens of thousands were in that terrace.

Think there was 4500, only thing that let down the day were the Port Vale fans who were really hostile for some reason.
