He's scored 4 goals and 2 pens. Hardly a great return for a striker.

If we hadn't got rid of Dobbie, we wouldn't have been able to signs Upson. I'd argue that Upson in the side won us a number of points and got us into the playoffs (above palace). Hardly a poor bit of business.

Reading between the lines I rekon this outcome was inevitable from the moment Burnley wanted him.

His agent would know what Burnley were prepared to offer and if we weren't able or prepared to match it then it's the obvious choice to leave. He's probably getting a nice signing on fee as well which he wouldn't get if he signed another contract here.

To be honest I don't blame him. At this level players surely have to follow the money more than they do in the prem, he's not a millionaire and if he earns an extra 50 or 100 grand through the term of the deal then I think anyone in that situation would take the bigger contract.

Understand what you mean. I was more worried about Dobbie because I thought he was an excellent player who didn;t work for us. But he didn't work for Palace and I think Bloom called that one right. As for Burnley I think they are overrated. They have an excellent manager but I think the team will be found out over a whole season. We will end up ahead of them I think. I don't think Barnes is the answer for them. I'm not so fussed about selling to rivals along as the protagonists involved understand it and I think Bloom generally does.

... my six-year-old is pretty upset too, as am I, but we're not despondent, and think that the club will navigate their way through this situation just fine. Only time will tell on that front though.
