We'd sold White for £50 mill and, at the time, Cucurella seemed a better player, but was also left sided, a very difficult position to fill.
With hindsight, though, you absolutely have a point.
I have a sneaking suspicion Chelsea also overpaid for Caicedo. Imagine that.
Eh?
MAUPAY? Cucurella was 100% more disruptive than Maupay. He got a nice little round of applause when his name was announced for Brentford. Cucurella got booed by the whole ground until he was hauled off in tears.
Of course. Typically generous and self deprecating.
I’ve never once thought Potter isn’t a genuinely top human being. I have wondered if that niceness was blunting our result getting edge. Turns out it wasn’t.
Anyway, we both know the truth  and I think you always have

It 100% won’t. What would do that would be losing Potter. He’s the man who’s developed the player to this stage.
Tuchel might develop him more or he might break him in search of instant returns. I’d say it’s about 50/50. But we’ve made him a potential Champions League player. If he doesn’t kick...
The little old Brighton we watched had played the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool regularly just four or five years beforehand and had players in and out that included Michael Robinson, Mark Lawrenson and Jimmy Case. Lawrenson was Liverpool's record signing and the most expensive...
Well, it's slightly nuts for us but I've been saying that's the price since May. Specialist player covering specialist positionS, four years left on contract and no obvious replacement. When you consider what Wan Bisaka went for and what Citeh spent on an alleged rapist it's not nuts at all...
Legally it can’t be. You’d have to have complex clauses around if one player failed a medical or couldn’t agree final personal terms.
If it was cash plus player we certainly wouldn’t be asking the quoted 52.5 mill.

I totally agree re cakeism.
However, the reports and Tweets I saw re Colwill suggest that’s a legally separate deal, which means the only thing snagging the Cucerella deal can be the finer details of that deal itself, surely?
Again, with the caveat of if those reports were accurate. It seems...
We were only ever going to get top dollar or keep him.
Plus, any appearance linked add on would increase that stat as he played games for Chelsea!

There’s no evidence at all to suggest that’s what’s happening.
Also we don’t NEED to sell Cucerella. He won’t go on strike when there’s a World Cup followed by another window

Nothing wrong with waiting until contracts are all inked (and ideally medicals done too). Romano has simply jumped the gun.
Our top brass are the only ones coming out of this with any credit. Tony - and Paul Barber - have played a blinder
