AEW is great.
I must admit to having switched off from WWE about 15 years ago. After the Attitude Era it all felt a bit rubbish. But AEW seems to be reveling in that sort of larger than life, slightly ridiculous story-telling. Would love to see what they can do with an enormous Amazon style budget.
Vince McMahon is an absolute lunatic. Forced to resign / retire at 77 and he's done everything in his power to undo that.
I read on a wrestling forum that they're also allegedly speaking to Disney about a sale.
There's probably a bit of recency bias going on, isn't there?
2008 seems like aeons ago but I imagine there was some outcry back then as well. I'm certainly no fan of any clubs being run by sketchy petro-states.
I think what sticks in the craw for me with regards to Newcastle particularly is...
I really like the one where, if you're opposed to Saudi owning a football club, you're not allowed to watch Disney anymore because they also invest there.
The argument of "we had to go with the Saudi's because there weren't any other bids" is like saying "I had to go home with the town psycho because she was the only woman left in the club at 4am".
Weaksauce.
They didn't really protest Ashley either. A few half-hearted walk outs seemed to be all they could manage.
Now Blackpool, that's a club that knows how to protest.
Could be a tough January for them...
'Anyone but Newcastle' policy from selling clubs could slow Eddie Howe's transfer plans.
Opposition to the Saudi takeover is so strong it is thought some Premier League clubs would rather see them relegated than cash in...
New owners unhappy with the fans already...
Newcastle United’s new owners were not offended by the fans who celebrated the purchase of their club by wearing homemade Arabic head coverings and robes. They would, however, like them to stop.
In a statement headed “guidance on matchday attire” the...
Cognitive dissonance is a heck of a thing.
EDIT: Although to be fair it probably isn't cognitive dissonance because I think you need to be aware of your conflicting thoughts / actions to experience it. So, I'll just go with: they're f**king morons.
Their issues with Ashely (stadium renaming aside) all boil down to them being pissed off he was a touch too miserly to propel them to their "rightful" place at the top end of the league. That's it.
They've overtaken Leeds / Massive et al in the 'most overinflated sense of self-worth' stakes for me.
I've thought about it and they're basically whores aren't they? Newcastle fans I mean.
They'll bleat on now about how they can't do anything about human rights halfway around the world and that what's important is the money coming into the club and the city and that it doesn't matter where the...
Can we get hold of that Ipswich banner fr a few years back? But make it actually make sense?
Or perhaps just chant "blood money" at them for 90 minutes?
