When Fury’s on his game there’s no one currently to touch him on the planet, I believe even at 36 he’s in the best shape of his life both mentally and physically.

Late stoppage in the Championship rounds, 9-12.

Just a shame it’s not on at Wembley or Old Trafford, but unfortunately money talks 🤷‍♂️
Has there been any other fights at old Trafford apart from Benn/eubank 2 ?

Boxing always comes across as having a massive committee of people wholly tasked with finding and implementing ways to make the sport more shit.

That said there is something fundamentally good about it
. Kind of like when they cock up the world cup, but you still watch every match anyway
Just like higher education.

No, from memory the only football grounds I can recall open air shows.
Villa Park
Goodison
Bramhall Lane
White Hart Lane Mk 1 and 2
Highbury
Dean Court
Elland Road
Upton Park

Im sure I’ve missed one.

Funnily enough The Goldstone was earmarked to be one of the venues for Chris Eubanks Sky World Tour.

Barry Hearn and Sky wanted a flat fee from the Albion who would have kept the Gate and refreshment money (Hearn was on the merch), but given the proposed opponent,Sammy Storey, the sums just didn’t add up. We were losing enough money at Football never mind Boxing.

Millwall for bentt vs hide

I don’t think eubank would have sold to well for a fight at the goldstone. Apart from his strut on the pitch for the West Ham game he wasn’t really a Ricky Hatton type football fan if one at all.

Ricky Hatton has fought at Man City’s ground as well.

Recall that one now, Hide destroyed Bentt who ended up in Hospital, thankfully making a full recovery.

Re Eubank that was the football clubs thinking, bear in mind he only barely sold the Brighton Centre out for his first defence against Dan Sherry in Feb 1991.

Moving on a generation I was asked not that long ago if Eubank Jnr would have filled the Amex for a fight with Billy Joe Saunders?

Obviously ticket pricing would have been a factor, but I think he’d have struggled to sell 15,000, and a large number of that would have been members of the Travelling community supporting his opponent.

Why is it nonsense ? If you don’t like boxing you’re on the wrong thread.
You can like a sport but think an event is nonsense.

This event has MANY aspects of nonsense, but that's boxing in general at the moment which is a shame because, and you'll like this, many people like boxing.

What’s the nonsense in your opinion?

I agree. Junior hasn’t got the common touch. Some boxers (Nathan Heaney-stoke, josh Warrington- Leeds) personally deliver the tickets to people which makes them feel included. It’s a massive commitment on their side but in these cases it has worked out. I think you really need a football fan base to be filling a stadium (unless you’re a major star AJ/fury).

It will be interesting to see but personally I think Fury's boxing abilities have been over hyped, he's had one very good result against Klitschko, which we subsequently discovered was 9 months before him and his brother tested positive for Steroids! As he was using steroids in the Christian Hammer fight, there is no reason to believe he wasn't doing the same for Klitschko.

He's had the trilogy against Wilder, who let's face it is a one trick pony with limited boxing skills, and other that that has fought a series of come forward one dimensional fighters that make him look good and suit his style. In his latest fight he was up against a MMA fighter making his professional debut but still had to drag himself off the canvas to win a narrow points decision! Even if he didn't do a days training for the fight, if his boxing skills were as good as people make them out to be, he should still have been able to beat Ngannou with his eyes shut.

Hopefully on Saturday he finally lives up to the hype, but for me Usyk wins on points.

i would say that it's in a desert infront of a load of smock wearing, lambo driving , misogynistic sheiks with no beer for the crowd , it's everything boxing never was , hope the fight is a spectacle , still can't call it but leaning towards a late fury ko.

The backdrop is rubbish, I agree. But the actual fight itself is exciting.

if you don't see the issue with an English man and a Ukrainian man fighting to unify the heavyweight boxing titles of the globe in a desert in Saudi Arabia ......with no beer , then you good sir have accepted defeat.

Yet another sport hijacked by oil money .
Yer gotta agree. Would 100% would have gone to this if it was in Vegas, imagine the hype and fun and clubs , bars etc. would be incredible. Saudi is so sh1t , no atmosphere, no booze, no decent parties. Rubbish.

Tricky one. Saudi money and Turk Alash have put on some specatacular cards. Without the Saudi money alot of these fights don't get made. Personally I think they've been great for boxing. Some great match ups all over the place now.

You cant really hate Saudi but like the match up. Saudi have made this happen !!
