Young kids today are unlikely to get that excited by a footballer from way before their time and aren't going to be interested in John Terry's off field antics. I presume most of the people queuing to meet JT were kids anyway. And to be honest, I'd probably rather meet Craig Noone than Geoff...

the songs I mostly just find pathetic. Completely and utterly childish. The kind of abuse you mentioned outside the ground seems to fall in the real 'hatred' category. People seem to sometimes forget it's not just schoolground jokes and silly songs. Some people really loathe gay people.
