Maybe you should keep your hat and put it with your spade from earlier. I'll remind you to get them out when immigration quotas come up in the trade negotiations

:dunce:

Nothing wrong with quotas on the number of visas issued. Perfectly sensible tool to use when managing an immigration policy.

What is actually happening at the celebrations on Friday? Genuine question. I can’t see many musicmians or performers wanting to put their name to it and not even because they don’t agree with Brexit but incase the whole thing goes pear or is a non-event.

From what I can gather it’s gonna be people just sort of being there waiting for a bong then being dispersed at 23:15.

I wont be going. For me its over

There is no doubt that you won, we are leaving the EU and you should enjoy your celebrations and Big Ben Bong. With yourself, Two profs, Ppf, Mouldy Boots, Baker lite (well that's two of you, at least) Nigel Farage, Jacob Rees-Mogg, Stephen Yaxley-Lennon and Ann Widdecombe, I bet the party will be an absolute delight

(Shame I won't be able to make it as I will be washing my hair or watching paint dry or something)

I just think that the Government should be held to account to ensure that it delivers exactly what it promised you during the election campaign in order to get your vote. I'm sure you wouldn't want it to turn out that you have been naive and lied to. So, we just need to ensure that over the next 11 months (if Johnson hasn't lied ), you get what you voted for and find out what you have won. Surely only an idiot wouldn't want that.

I'm afraid the only thing you have won so far is a border down the Irish Sea with onerous new administrative procedures for anything moving across it in both directions, causing significant problems for business on both sides of this new border. (Afraid he lied about 'no new administration or processes' during the campaign).

I bet you can't wait to see what else you have won over the next 11 months

If it was democratically achieved, why won't the government release the Russia report? Just sayin'.

The general public are so bored to the back teeth with these millionaire movie stars , pop stars, comedians and politicians telling the rest of us what we should do.

That exact group of people are the cause of Brexit.

That exact group of people are the cause of Brexit.

They have played a massive part in the decision. In 10-15 years time, if it turns out to be the wrong decision, then at least we tried. The EU would always have this country back. In the meantime, it's time to move forward, no amount of moaning will reverse the result.

Not been on this thread for some time, do we still have a refusal to take it on the chin and get on with life on here then???

Perhaps an absence of pointless, poorly written nonsense from you and Deaf Frog would speed up the process of putting the matter to one side, But then you are too needy to allow that to happen.... and you were on this thread just over an hour and a half ago so your short term memory must be shot!

Wow. Such bitterness and fury against someone daring to criticise your great leader. Now, if somebody voted leave and wanted Brexit done I can see why they would like Boris Johnson, for that. But the man is a lying, bootless, incompetent and there is very little to admire about him.
Yes, he is delivering a Brexit. We’ll see how that goes but he is a disaster for this country on many, many levels.

I heard a program about Orwell on the radio yesterday and one contributor theorised that the reason this country has remained tyranny free for such an extended period is because people do overreact to any hint of totalitarianism.

Is Britain “done”? No. It’s not in great shape but it’s not done. But the more high profile people that speak out against PM’s like Johnson the better.

Thanks for waiting so politely Ppf. You really are ever so gracious.

I'll take the bait then...…………..but TBH there's not much of substance generated by you guys that's worth debating. How can you respond to 'on our way' repeated 7 million times? Personally I don't deny or resent you having the chance to crow and enjoy your pints on Friday night, but for once I have to agree with your side: 'lets just get on with it'.

And doesn't the bible have some reference to after the feast, the reckoning? (Although I feel that we'll all be picking up the tab for your 'victory'.)

How we could do with an Orwell today. On a similar theme, another distinguished commentator (sorry, cannot recall name) describe fascism as where the elite meets the mob. Of course, it couldn't happen here...…..

I couldn’t agree more. Millionaire politicians like Farage, Johnson, Duncan-Smith, Rees-Mogg, etc.

As an aside, I’ve never heard any hate towards Hugh Grant from anyone before. He always comes across as an erudite, thoughtful, individual with considered opinions and a generally nice man. And by all accounts that’s most people’s opinion of him. I guess in some people’s eyes you’re a nice guy until you dare say something against a Tory or Brexit and then you instantly transform into a ****ing ********?

Another interesting point on this radio profile of Orwell, something that I will definitely take on board and apply when in debate, is if someone says something that you immediately agree with and think is brilliant, stop, think about it. Because that’s when you have probably missed something. And equally when someone says something that immediately infuriated you or you vehemently disagree with, again, stop. Think it through. Have you been prepped, groomed, to react in that fashion?
Useful advice. Something I have certainly been guilty of. Something to ponder there, I think.

That exact group of people are the cause of Brexit.

Wait, people voted Leave because they didn't like other people expressing different opinions to those they held? Well it makes more sense than a lot of the reasons that have been trotted out for why it happened.

Do you want a party?
Not sure
We’ll ring Big Ben.
You’ll definitely ring Big Ben?
100%
In that case, let’s definitely have a party. What else will we have?
Whatever you want, but definitely be a party and a bong.
I’m in.
There might not be a bong.
Oh
Unless you pay for it yourselves.
Okay.
Even then, there might not be a bong. But there’ll definitely be a party.
Oh. What else will there be?
A party. Just a big party atmosphere. It’ll be great. You just have to get behind it. Think positive.
Okay, I’m convinced.

Fast forward to some middle aged blokes sitting alone in a pub on the 31st, wondering where their party went and hoping a bell will bong. I mean, that’s what they were promised, right?

The Warwick in Worthing is having a Brexit Party if you are so inclined ???
