I'm not a rocket scientist but Brighton probably have a tiny bit better chance of playing in the premier league than Huddersfield Town.

Give them 8 million pounds and see if they reject.

You are right we probably do have a better chance on promotion ..but lets not be too disparaging re Huddersfield ...new manager seems to be building a competitive side ..as seen by recent results ..a win at Newcastle and draw at Villa ..supporters responding 18k at the opening home game ..so maybe not quite as straightforward as it may seem

I heard the figure £1.5m for him, Bristol were after him.... Certainly a better option than Duffy at half the cost and more likely to be interested at being part of a squad than Duffy is.

The way stupid prices are being banded about eg £4m for Duffy I think it would take a bid in the regions of £10m to £12m for us to consider letting Dunk go and even then unless he puts pressure on the club they would reject it. He is one who would hold his own if we get promoted.

There is an offer we would take. I'm sure of that. We have never stood in the way of a player who wanted to leave and Dunk has already shown that he will try and force a move if necessary. However, to do so at this point would seriously undermine our season just at the point that we appear to have a squad who can challenge for the auto spots. To that end I wouldn't take less than £15m at this point and even then I'm not 100% sure. I cannot see anyone doing that even with the silly valuations about currently. With 10 days or so to go I'd say we are 90% sure not to lose anyone. A month ago I'd have put that at 50/50 at best.

Spot on. What people think Dunk is worth is completely irrelevant. The most pertinent figure is what he is worth to us. However I wouldn't be surprised if that in his latest contract there is a clause that enables him to be able to chose to talk to a premier league club dependant on a minimum figure being met.

Hughton and Barber and Bloom have consistently said this season:
- we don't want to lose our best players and want to keep our squad together - you'd argue that they've demonstrated that they intend to stick to this promise by turning down big bids for our players:
- It was fine margins that meant we didn't go up last season but depth of squad is one of them which Hughton is keen to fix. (he had Greer, Uwe, Goldson and Dunk last season remember)
- Hughton has consistently said we need another CB. He wants plenty of alternatives. Thats why we now have Sidwell, Stephens, Kayal *and* Norwood as competing DMs
- Hughton has consistently said we need a strong u23 squad because the emergency loan system has been abolished . Thats why we have the promise of Ben White *and* the experience of Ben Hall as alternatives as well in case of an injury crisis.

So why when we it looks like we're in for a player or actually sign one then the first reaction is that...
Dunk is off
Stephens is off
etc etc.

To be fair the tabloids/media generally cause this reaction. People read some bollocks in the daily mail about a potential Duffy deal PAVING THE WAY for a Dunk exit, and believe it.
