Absolutely agree. I remember the appalling scenes l witnessed in a video clip I stumbled across, shot in the immediate aftermath of the Shoreham disaster last summer, before the emergency services got to the scene.

What perverted kind of urge makes people film personal suffering like that?

And as bad as Shoreham was, the Nice disaster of last night way surpasses it.

Possibly the fact that people watch them!!!

I actually think you should watch them, so you can see the devastation the feeling at the time so you can connect and understand better, rather than read a simplistic tabloid description with a few photos that do not show the true horror of life. I would not let children watch them, or even think everyone should but in my opinion it helps me realize the horror of the tragic events and I think about them every day and possibilities of this happening everyday. Ever since our close escape from 7/7 when we live in London I wish my wife a safe trip when she goes back upto London 4 days a week for work, every time my wife and daughter go to London for a trip or see friends without me I wish them a safe trip with the possibility of an attack and images in the back of my mind. I get off trains or tubes if I feel unsafe and make the family too, I don't give a shit what people think, I check places out for escape routes when we go somewhere....

Maybe I am wrong, I don't know whats right for me is not for someone else I get that.

They have won the war of fear.

But I have watched some to remember and learn.

I agree about the videos.

Cant agree about your over cautious approach as whos to say you don't get off a train and walk straight into a terror attack elsewhere. Not the thread for that debate but live your life fella and don't let them beat you

By that I mean I have actually seen unattended bags on a tube and a train on both occasions asked people around me and no one knew so I got off at the next stop, aint taking that risk I was actaully surprised how many folks stayed on the trains, and tube a few got off with me after I asked though.

Horrific beyond belief. 84 dead, 7 of which are children, all out enjoying a night of National celebration.

The perpetrators of these acts of terror are not human, they are totally deranged. Unfortunately there are too many of them roaming the world.

The trouble is they are human and they are blinded by faith and hatred, what can we do about it, probably nothing as its to far ingrained in some peoples psyche.

Education and integration will work to an extent, but there will always, and I mean always be fanatics of religion therefore this will go on and on and on It will never ever go away, so how do we deal with it ?

French elections next year.

Marine Le Pen is quite popular out there. Attacks like this will strengthen her cause.
Not really a surprise given the reported motivation, and the other similarly motivated attacks just in France in the last few years.......

This is a likely outcome sadly, France in particular is heading for a mini apocalypse a with the polarisation of the ethnic groups becoming more and more a reality. I forsee an eventual Apartheid style regime, perhaps the only way to stop or at least reduce these killings and the revenge actions that will ultimately start to appear.

It won't ever go away. Once Isis is crushed another Islamic terror group will spring up or an old group will raise it's head. History will tell you that the the Islamic world and western world won't ever work. I speak more of the Arab sunni world. This is why France is screwed. They have the worse kind of muslims living in France. French/north African Arabs.

If the west are serious about defeating extremism then they should cut all ties with Saudi/Qatar and the other gulf states who fund and support terrorism.

The situation has arisen in France mainly because of the obsessive focus on suppressing the voice on the right at all costs, and pandering to those who defend the extremes of the ethnic 'Arab' communities across the nation. There is a real etnic separation especially in the large city suburbs that produce extremists and religious ferment.

I love France, but if you focus your angst on Marine Le Pen and her enthusiastic but ultimately not militaristic supporters, but leave the Islamic issue alone in fear of upsetting that section of society, then I think you are asking for trouble.

Some pleasant Quran reading here if people haven't read it before:

http://quran.com/8/12

We shouldn't underestimate the power of this belief system because it inspires apocalyptic death with high rewards in heaven.

How do these sick ****s know that they are killing non believers though? They may be killing other muslims?

Awful awful news. Chilling scenes (not that i've watched anything too chilling)

My sister-in-law was due to be on the Promenade, but her friend's flight was delayed and so their evening meal was pushed back. Was locked in the restaurant with the other patrons by the owner until he was certain it was safe.

I know these vile attacks are becoming more and more popular however i found it a little scary maligning all Muslims. We are talking about a very small handful of psychos that are using region as an excuse.

I can see how the rise of the right is happening and feel that a lot of innocent Muslims (who will condemn the attackers as much as anyone) will feel the repercussions of the actions of a few nutters claiming to be killing in the act of religion.

Scary times and very difficult to stop these nutters especially when they are so willing to do for the cause.
