I think this is Greg Bobkin's favourite run, I may check this out myself, as like you say good prep pre Brighton Marathon.

It screwed me up this year for Brighton Marathon. I ran 3 miles from Bexhill for the start, ran the first 7 miles uphill at a steady pace and well within myself. Then got over excited and legged the 6 mile steep downhill finish. Result knee injury 3 weeks from Brighton Marathon start.
This year it is 4 weeks out and I will learn from my mistakes. Certainly not a PB run!
I will probably do Eastbourne Half on 6th March. Simgull enjoyed that this year.

Managed a 10k Tempo run with consistent GAP splits so very pleased with that. It's great to have a race to train for again having muddled through August.

No training plan for me till mid October. Till then will be going for a big weekly mileage increase, at 9" pace, and a weekly session trying to maintain the 5k race pace. Plus press ups, sit ups and plenty of planking.
It has been a good 10 months running for me, due to the NSC Gazelles. My 5k pace is now constantly at last November's NSC challenge full out effort (that was wind assisted).

Unfortunately, I have decided to say good bye to a very dear friend. Dry January next year will be extended up to the finish line of the Brighton Marathon. WHAT PUB ON APRIL 17th?

Old man syndrome. I have just remembered I am in the Brighton Brooks 10k in November. So will do a training plan early October.

Long rang forecast is showing North West winds settling in for the week ahead. Only 12 mph but enough to hit our bows as we run up our gorgeous Hove Park hill and slow us down.

At the moment I think we should head for the Prom and have the wind hit our port sides and starboard sides. I leave the final decision to @BigNuts as he is after the NSC Hove Park Parkrun record and the weather may change.

6 mph North, North Westerly for Saturday that sounds like Hove Prom weather to me. You need a southerly ideally for Hove Park in my opinion.

Am planning to do the 'Fittleworth 5' on Sunday. This is one of the West Sussex Fun Run League runs and mainly attracts club runners. However, 'unattacheds' are welcomed. This should be a really nice if a bit challenging route - definitely not PB territory. Unlike the (wonderful) Parkrun format results are never released in age categories which is a bit of a let-down for old gits like me. (Mrs Garry Nelson's Teacher is sometimes positioned on the finish line to do an old git count.)
The standard is pretty good (probably a bit better than the average Parkrun) and the entry fees are very cheap (usually about fiver). Worth checking out - just google 'Sussex Races'.

Yes a strong Southerly with a slight bit of West. 6mph is not much though and you got me focused on Hove Park.
As I'm off the pace anyway, If Dazzer is at Hove Park and 50 seconds off the pace, then it could be a tight finish between us. I live in hope but don't believe him.

Hove Park for me too to celebrate Mrs Simgull's 50th park run. Had another stinker of a cold this week (again!) so not expecting any miracles.

It certainly is. Great race – if you're a fan of hills!

I've been away during the week, so my last run was the 20-miler on Sunday. It is actually quite nice to have a break, once in a while!

Agreed - good series of friendly races, all abilities welcome (the one we organised had times ranging from 25 mins to well over an hour for 5 miles) and cheap to enter. Some lovely routes on these races too......

Looks like HP tomorrow then - based on my running back in 'normal conditions' this week I'm expecting about 21 mins, but may depend on the red wine volume this evening :whistle: Usual meet point ?

Being the clever soul I am I decided to go straight to 10k (ovingdean to Brighton pier and back).

Horrible. Utterly horrible. I don't know how people can ENJOY this :lolol:

My HIPS felt ABUSED. One the one hand I was happy to have pushed myself (probably too far too soon) but shocked at how quickly fatigue kicked in on my legs (about 6k in I was DONE).

Please tell me it gets better. I've got the half marathon in Feb!

Some days will be worse though.:lol:
