Got the look of a hard nut ......not a pretty boy striker who cares about messing up his hair. Looks promising.

Hemed’s agent will hold talks with Rangers in the next 48 hours and the Israeli international striker is poised to become Ally McCoist’s first capture of the summer after quitting Maccabi Haifa on a Bosman.

Express Sport can reveal that 24-year-old Hemed will avoid the need for a work permit wrangle thanks to him recently obtaining a Polish passport.

Hemed’s mother was born in Poland before emigrating to Israel and that allows him to sign for any other EU-based club.

Without the passport Rangers might have struggled to land Hemed as he’s not yet an established international with the credentials to walk through a work permit application process.

Rangers are preparing to fight off the challenge from clubs in Spain, Italy, Belgium and also a fresh contract offer from Maccabi to land the striker who has a close bond with Hoops midfield ace Kayal.

The two players came up through the ranks together at Maccabi Haifa and remain firm friends. In fact the duo share the same birthday – May 2 – although Hemed is 12 months older than the 23-year-old Parkhead player.

Hemed is well aware about how well Kayal has settled in Glasgow and how his pal’s profile has risen greatly by moving to the SPL and showcasing his skills on a bigger stage.

Now after speaking to Kayal about his career path, Hemed too could be bound for Glasgow and a chance to follow in the footsteps of previous Israelis at Ibrox – the likes of former keeper Bonni Ginzburg and the late Avi Cohen.

Hemed made his debut for Israel earlier this month in a victory against Latvia and although not the finished article is rated as a player worth a gamble – especially on a Bosman.

Hemed had netted an impressive 15 goals in his last 22 starts for Maccabi Haifa as they claimed the Israeli championship and is now destined for the SPL.

Its All Too Beautiful
Looks OK to me, I'm in

Reminds me of the montage showing Rod before he arrived, all looks very good and I shows the wingers and midfield getting the ball to him, not one of our greatest strengths. I would say, that given his age, his goal to start ratio and where he has played I the past, that this is an average signing of someone wanting to maximise their earnings potential and this stage in his career. I want him to score lots of goals and do well, but some of the defending for those goals on the clip was atrocious.

I'm unclear, has he actually signed?

What is it that's making it unclear?
Yes, he has signed. The club sent me an email confirming as much. It's on the club's site. It's reported in The Argus, the BBC's website, and other media outlets. It even says so on NSC. All that makes it clear, clear that he has signed.

I'd say it looks far far more like the videos we saw of Ulloa before he came. The defending was woeful in those clips too, but you could tell that he was excellent with his head. Tomer looks the same, some of his headers are unreal.

What eight goals last season ?

Leo Ulloa only scored 7 goals in 34 games in his one season in the La Liga. Hemed has scored 26 goals in 101 apperances in the La Liga. I don't think his stats look that bad for someone playing in struggling sides in the Spanish top flight.

Would rather our overpaid scouts done their job properly rather than a so called player recommending him mmmm.

His signing had nothing to do with Kayal. All the scouting was done at the tail end of last year and potential targets were all listed as soon as we were safe from relegation. The scouts have done their job, the people doing the negotiations are currently doing their job andthen its up to the players and the managers and coaches once the season starts.

Thre are a few more on their way for talks even now - i cant really comment on this guy because i havnt ever seen him play 90 minutes but its not up to him alone, we need other signings who will create the chances and they are on their way. I said last week on this board that this week we would see some things come to fruition and that has happened and it isn't over yet.

Avram Grant has described him as the Isreaeli Alan Shearer, high praise indeed. Great to get our 2nd signing over the line already with the rpmise of more high quality additions to come, a big well done to all at the club for making this happen.
