Essentially every single post you've ever made in any thread is the same thing just reworded slightly. In short, anyone with a different opinion or world view to to your own is a bigot and ignorant. Well done though in figuring out a hundred different ways of saying it.

So many do gooders on this thread sharing empty words of sympathy with homeless people without being any more active about doing anything about it than the rest of us. Got a spare room or bed have you? Why not let one of our local friendly homeless persons have it for a while! Didnt think so. I know, I'm such a nasty person for having no sympathy for these poor souls, might have something to do with having been kicked punched and spat at by a number of them and having my property stolen by them. Still its not their fault is it, its always someone elses or a problem for the rest of us to sort out.

As far as you are concerned we are not allowed to have sympathy for homeless people or to consider the circumstances that made them so unless we invite them to live in our houses. i wonder if this logic carries over to other situations? I cannot have sympathy for your cancer as i am not in a position to cure it. Sorry but i think your logic is massively flawed.

Same goes for your logic about not having sympathy for them because some of them have spat at you or stole from you. I think you are doing the same as Somerset in that you are taking a small sample of people and defining all other by it. The fact is that this is a large group of people who cannot be defined by the actions of a few.

Homelessness IS a problem for the rest of us to sort out. I would like to live in a society where we look after each other, the homeless, addicts and all other vulnerable people in our society have ended up in a shit situation and need some help. As a society we should help them because we live in communities and are not separate entities.

Your idea of assigning blame is an interesting one and one echoed by others on this thread. You complain that those of us showing some compassion are suggesting that it is not their fault whilst you and Somerset appear to to placing all the blame on them. This, in the vast majority of cases with most people who end up in dire straits just does not do justice to the complexity of the situation. The victims here suffer from a combination of poor choices and circumstances colliding to for their current outcome. It is just too simple to blame (or not blame) them for their predicament as the ratio of combination is different for each and every individual.

Personally it serves me far better to thank my lucky stars that life hasn't conspired to deal me the shitty hand and poor choices that end in such circumstances than to condemn someone for their poor choices that may or may not be worse than some of the choices I have made.

You are of course right that i don't invite them into my home but i do give them a couple of quid when i can (or a tin of dog food) and have a natter if i have time. Interestingly i have never been spat at by anyone or robbed by a homeless person. Karma perhaps?

Why would you be so closed minded to assume that I have any less limit to my observations than you, or anyone else for that matter?

Your posts indicate that you have little or no knowledge of what causes homelessness.

As it goes I certainly don't think that I have observed more than you, but that's possibly why I look at the research compiled by people who work in this field. None of whom agree with your view.

The lack of compassion in posts like yours is a real shame.

What a first rate response.

I spent the afternoon working (voluntarily) with homeless young addicts at Brighton Housing Trust. They were friendly, willing and good company despite the fact that they suffered (between them) a host of issues (mental health, abuse etc.). None of them spat at me or tried to rob me, in fact they thanked me politely for my help.

Karma's a bitch, as they say.

Good on you.

one thing that alarms me is the amount of people from the armed forces that end up on the streets and homeless.
there are many good people who end up on the streets through no fault of their own, just a wrong turn in life and some people should remember it could be me or you.

Many homeless people are ex army/war veterans, most likely they have done more to serve our country than you ever will.

They have suffered mentally, in service to us. Only for bigots like you to treat them like garbage. Says a lot about you.

Here is where your own ignorance takes a step into casual indifference........ you haven't, not for one second even considered what my background is, privileged?.... actually council estates in Brighton, Hove, Shoreham, Lancing and Croydon say otherwise..... and only talk about the military to me if you actually know your subject....let me list a few things about my immediate family, RM, RAF, RN..........current and ex, Afghanistan, Falklands, Bosnia, Kuwait.........OK?.....now fook off.

It really didn't prove anything of the sort. In fact, it is an accurate appraisal of your posts on this matter. The fact that he agrees with someone you have taken exception to is neither here not there.

I think you need to get back on subject and finish your spat with the pompous paladin. It is derailing the thread.

Then it's sad you hold your uninformed opinions that affects your families comrades. Stay in your happy ignorance.

Well at least you admit to being vile. Respect for that.

Thank you for posting up evidence of your bigotry.
Treat them all the same, not as individuals or humans...

By the way, i've never been assaulted by 'the homeless', perhaps they don't like the way you sneer at them?

I'm not saying that some of them don't have any blame in their predicaments, i just know that in similar situations pretty much everyone would also fall. But don't look at the reasons, don't look past your tiny narrow mind, they're all the same, they're all to blame, lets not help them up, lets kick them while they're down. That helps everyone doesn't it?

Disgusting attitude.

Already done it. Got a chap who's been evicted from his flat staying in our spare room for a while. And do you know what? He hasn't attacked me or nicked all my stuff .... yet. Obviously he will do because that's what all homeless people do don't they?

I posted this earlier in the thread (near the beginning) but I think it is worth repeating. Those who work with the homeless may not be aware that there are charities to help exservices such as Soldiers off the Streets, SSAFA, Royal British Legion and the various Benevolent Trusts. Help can be given in various ways and it may not be known, or pride preventing the homeless veteran from asking.

Isn't a lot of this self inflicted ? Yeah some are unfortunate but the ammount of piss heads /junkies floating around the streets of BN2 might justify that claim
