What about for Saturday ? BBC suggests cold and rain ? annoying for outside beers

Gloomy and possible drizzle in places on Saturday, chilly without being cold. Dull.

also from the Dutch rainfall radar - there's some convective development in the southern North Sea

http://www.buienradar.nl/

That radar failed to spot the snow that was falling here in Eindhoven about 2 hours ago - it was showing clear skies for 100km in every direction.

Having said that, it is sometimes useful.

Eindhoven became known to me as the "Manchester" of The Netherlands.

I lived in Rotterdam for a while back in 1986, and my then wife had family in the south (Roermond). Every single time we drove down to see them, it rained as we got to Eindhoven.

It's dry at the moment!

From my 25 years living here, I'd say Zwolle is my "Manchester of the Netherlands" - it rains every time I go anywhere near it.

Just like my university days in Cardiff. It began raining every time I crossed the Severn Bridge into Wales.

As an aside I think Dean Wilkins lived and played for PEC Zwolle.

I have a feeling that may go too far West for us

I'm happy with that lot missing us, as it's bound to be sleet and simply get the ground wet - let's wait until the sun's gone down and hope for some fresh showers off the Thames Estuary.

Yellow warning for tonight, in Sussex and Kent.

"A wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow showers are expected through the rest of Thursday leading to icy stretches on untreated surfaces on Thursday night into Friday morning. The showers will gradually become lighter and restricted to the far southeast of England overnight. However, some heavier showers of sleet and snow are likely to affect parts of the southeast on Thursday afternoon and early evening, particularly Kent and Sussex.

Snow accumulations of 1-3 cm are possible in places. Due to the showery nature of the flow many places will probably miss the snow.

The public should be aware of the potential for disruption to travel.

This is a further update to the warning first issued on Tuesday to reduce snowfall amounts over the North York Moors and to extend the warning into Friday morning. "

Needs to get colder quick before anything arrives.

I'll believe when I see it, tbh.

As always! Can't really see where it is coming from. Has to hit when Worthing is at it's coldest. We have some way to go for that.

My feeling is by the time the very cold air (roughly -10C at 850Hpa) the convective activity will have ended.
