Are Brighton in the Premier League? Have ANY Brighton fans been involved in any such incident? When was the last time that pyrotechnics used in either a Brighton or Norwich match? In fact, how often have pyrotechnics occurred at any of the 46 matches that occur every week, let alone in the Premier League? How often have children been used to smuggle pyrotechnics in?

This 'disturbing' element has no quantification - how many times? And is the response to a Premier League report on an incident that as far as I can tell is rarer than rocking horse poo by searching children in a lower league game with absolutely zero chance of aggro or pyrotechnics a proportionate response?

Common sense should prevail, not use unquantified reports to further piss off innocent fans as they lawfully go about watching a footie game with their kid. Jesus wept, I can't believe this is being defended with such spurious vigour.
Grimsby Town fans lobbed 4 smoke bombs onto the pitch last Saturday at Altrincham , rumours are that kids are taking them in because the adult supporters are being patted down and having all bags checked after several incidents in the past.

its a valid point, there is no reason to confiscate little deodorants, are they even on the banned list?

it seems odd that the authorities claim to be able to catch anyone on cctv doing something wrong in the ground yet you taking in some mini BO bash causes a problem.

There is common sense and then there is common sense,

One of NSC's old posters was with his young son who had his deodorant confiscated recently because according to the steward it could be 'used as a flame thrower'.
The child had never realised that they could be used for that up till then.

Stewards very rarely get jobsworthy with searches and if they do you can bet it'll be due to some unusual directive. If the youngling was being singled out by the steward week after week I could understand but this is just a case of someone thinking they are somehow special and shouldn't be subject to the same rules as everyone else. Whinging in other words.

I also had a deodorant confiscated whilst going into the Amex recently. and the steward gave me the exact same explanation. Difference is to the OP and the mood of this thread in genreal is, my reaction was "fair enough, if those are the rules then fair enough, I will simply pick up my deodorant after the game", which I did. **** me, some people will whinge and whine about anything nowadays.

I remember a few years back when they used to have the 3 day music festival at Stanmer Park. I went to the roots day and a family were really kicking off about the fact the stewards searched a young female child for drugs, claiming civil liberties and how appalling it was that they searched a child. Well guess what, they found drugs concealed in the young girls dreadlocks.

I don't think it's a case of people whinging at all. It boils down to some absolutely pathetic reasons to confiscate items or tell people off.

Quite frankly it's embarrassing and has gone to far.The most used objects to chuck at matches are probably coins or lighters which don't get confiscated.. Not charging at away fans with flames spurting out of a can of Linx Africa or searching stuffed cuddly toys for Semtex.

Once again it all comes down to using your common sense but we lack that in this country now.

Norwich supporters must be pleased to note their stewards have been trained to safeguard their safety, terrorists these days use women and children to test security also the idiots who try to conceal flares etc, sincerely hope our stewards have received the same training.
