Hooligans aren't football supporters, they are thugs who use football as an excuse for antisocial behaviour, public disorder and criminal damage. And often much worse.

The only blessing I can see in it is that they seem to only gravitate towards the other idiots - the occasional unprovoked assault notwithstanding.

Football fans are, correctly, labelled as idiots by most; they pay over the odds for 90 minutes of "entertainment", pay vast sums to Sky/BT Sport, which in turn goes to making multi-millionaire footballers, agents and owners even richer - themselves often while seeing no increase to their own earnings etc etc etc. all in the name of "loyalty" to a business which frankly doesn't give a shit about you on an individual level.

You don't have cricket or rugby hooligans now do you?

Leaving aside football's working class roots for a second, in rugby the hooligans are on the pitch. That aside both games have been used by the public school system to prepare men and officers for battle.

I'm presuming this was in reply to the post I also quoted. I'm no hooligan but I know a few of the faces and that's because they were indeed there at the same shitty Northern holes I was when we were dreadful. We'd chat on the train back and their knowledge was often better than mine.

Complete load of bollocks. There are some who are just there for a tear up but that's a minority, most "hooligans" are no less of a supporter than anyone else.

One is a regulated sport, the other is oft violent antisocial criminal activity which often results in personal injury, property damage and extra cost to the taxpayer for the NHS services used, extra policing needed, repairs to damaged property, and so forth.

So while boxing GENERATES income, hooliganism both directly and indirectly COSTS the average citizen.

But surely taxes from all that booze being drunk and designer clobber being bought helps to defray those costs?!

See #39, This lot seem to be wearing the same clothes in that picture which was for everyone to see on Twitter, months ago.
Holidays??

I reckon the answer to the original question ' does Brighton have a hooligan firm? ' is NO. Not these days as football violence is practically non-existent, but there are quite a few younger lads that like the idea of it, and quite a few of the older men that were into it back in the day that still go to Brighton games. They drink together, go to football, gather in the usual pubs in town, cause no harm to anyone, but still it seems some of the train spotter bed wetting nerds of NSC can't get their tiny judgemental minds round it. Football is for everyone from all walks of life from bank managers to bank robbers get over it.

Sorry I don't understand your first line, no I'm not in that photo I have got kids older than that lot.
I saw the picture in post 39 at least 3 months back, if you look at both the pictures the clothes and the place were the pictures were taken look very similar.
I was saying that I don't think that picture was taken this weekend.

Sorry for thinking you were insulting me.

I think the 'poor souls' involved in the photo have embarrassed themselves:)
