Yep. Is the same if you go to book a cheap day return from Victoria. Far pricier to go from Victoria to Brighton than vice versa.

I always look at http://www.splityourticket.co.uk/ or http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/split-cheap-train-tickets/

Its often cheaper to buy split tickets on the same route A-C-D-B than just A-B, you can still be sat on the same trains except rather than a return from Brighton to victoria, you have a return from Brighton to Gatwick and a return from gatwick to victoria, nearly always cheaper. Just looked and for Brighton - Birmingham Peak time travel splitting ticket into 5 segments is over £100 cheaper

When I've had visitors from the US or Canada over, they are in shock at how we are fleeced for products in this country. Paying the equivalent to over $5 for a coffee in some places was the biggest choker for them.

Whenever I go to the US, I always take a near empty full sized case. Its usually bursting upon my return!

You can get them to come fond and install a meter, it's up to the tenant how the utilities are managed. Can gt it reversed when you move out if need be. And I wholeheartedly agree about stamps, superb value. You could always take the letter there yourself but I'm not sure how far a 74p train ticket would get you!

How much would it cost you to send that letter electronically? - A lot less than 74p i'd bet

Fine for letters but my 91 year old grandmothers birthday card? My nephews Christmas card? Documents that need wet signature? My contact lenses from spec savers? Any parcel or package?

Airport Departure Tax. Total rip off and serves no purpose other than to screw people out of their cash.

The Albion are as guilty as anyone when it comes to rip-off booking fees. It still grates with me that I can be standing in front of the ticket office staff at the counter, no postage or processing required other than scanning my ST card number and physically placing in my hand a ticket for an away game (or a home cup game), and then being charged a quid per ticket for the privilege.

I know it's only a quid, and in the grand scheme of things (thirty quid a ticket or whatever) it's insignificant, but it's the principle that pisses me off.

How much do the Albion make out of that away ticket transaction? - Most if not all the ticket price goes to the away club surely but the ticket office here would still have to employ someone (who may not serve many people whilst there during a normal working day) and therefore will still be drawing a wage for the entire shift rather than just the times when serving.

Most of our match day tickets are pre-sold as season tickets, so is there really enough demand to be able to offer the service free of charge to users given that it would cost the club money to have the facility.

If you say that the ticket office was open all the time the club shop was open, thats 54 hours a week (i doubt its open that long tbh) now you'd also need to have some breaks and lunch cover too so employing only 1 person to cover the whole day doesn't work (otherwise they don't get a break) but for this purpose we assume just 1 person is working at a time. Now the club has to pay 54 (hours) times the wages (say the minimum wages of £6.50 per hour) thats £351 before employer contributions like NI, now if we only sell a hand full of tickets at the ticket office a day, at random times during that day, it stops the club being able to staff it just when they need someone to serve that customer, should the club lose money to sell these or should they try to cover their costs by charging a small fee (£1) for the convenience of the service they offer when it's very easy for everyone to get access to a computer and order online (reducing further the need for a staffed ticket office)

Calling 0844/0845/0800 numbers from a mobile phone. A call to the Albion from some phone companies is 40p a minute. Shameful gouging.

There are electronic cards nowadays or you can order from sites like Moonpig?
Contact lenses could be collected from a store
Plenty of alternative courier companies that offer parcels and package delivery (i think RM are quite expensive for these due to pricing in proportion anyway so could be cheaper to use the alternatives like TNT)
Wet signatures - more and more places are happy with electronic signatures and very few things still require wet signatures, besides, would you send it 2nd class via RM for 74p if it was an important document - You could e-mail the original, they could print, sign, scan and e-mail it back.

Russian and Filipino females internet beauties, requiring funds be transferred from the UK, to pay for their flight to the UK to meet their future-spouse (the person tranferring the £) or to pay for their mum's life-saving operation in Russia or Manilla.

A former colleague of mine found this to be poor value, and he never got to meet the Skype beauties.

This just shows what a bloody ridiculous, logic defying and crazy system the UK has. Why should anyone have to figure out that buying 5 tickets is chealer than 1? Has anyone at the top actually stepped back and thought about how daft this whole set up is and how stupid it looks?

As I understand it German trains are broadly priced by distance and the type of train e.g. Inter-City, Inter-City Express, regional etc. Much more logical and common sense. None of the crap like at Hove when I was told I could not get a return to Gatwick as it is 'not far enough away' and that my best options was to get a ticket starting at Worthing...****ing nonsense.

Rent and house prices are the biggest rip off. Shocking the prices you have to pay in the UK.

The difference between UK / US is totally absurd in my view.

Junior has just had broadband installed in their rented house for $20 and monthly cost of $9, why do we pay sat least triple that in the UK ?

I know it wasn't Britain, but I paid £40 for four sandwiches, three drinks and a packet of crisps at Barcelona airport.

When I worked at RSCH some years ago and parking was free...yes, it was YEARS ago the car park was always rammed with day trippers taking the piss and no one needing to use the car parks for actual hospital business could get in.

Free parking at places like Arrowe Park in Birkenhead or Rotherham Hospital is unlikely to get abused because no bugger wants to go to them for recreation in the local area. Free car parks in tourist towns like Brighton or shopping destinations like London would be abused big style.

Good few years back Sainsburys opened a new supermarket on the site of the old cattle market right next to Haywards Heath station. They did free parking but ONLY IF YOU LEFT YOUR HEADLIGHTS ON !!

Clever this, as all of their customers are in and out in under an hour - so your battery won't go flat. If you're there all day (commuters), by 4pm your battery's flat so your lights are out, you get a ticket.

Smart eh?
