Oasis or Blur?

Blur ,at the start mocked for not being able to change direction and yet everything Oasis did sounds the same.Saw Noasis once they were ok.

Morning Glory is one if the best albums ever. IMO like.

Oasis peaked at album two and ran out of ideas where as Blur continued to be innovative and also to change as they produced each album.

There's no comparison.
Oasis had one great great album, then they slowly morphed into a pub Beatles tribute band. Blur had 2 great albums and 4 bloody good ones. Great Escape being the lowest point where they'd lost control of alcohol. But they still produced Universal which lifts me even today. Oasis were influenced too much by the Beatles, Blur were influenced by a multitude of bands including the Cardiacs, but they had their own sound.
In 1990 I bought She's So High in the local indie shop having never heard of them, I then went on to buy everything else they released since. I got caught up in Definitely Maybe and Wonderwall but Morning Glory was already showing signs of limited talent. When Blur peaked with the brilliant 13 in 1999, Oasis were already releasing dreadful records, having only formed 5 years earlier.
Blur's members went on to make another 5 very good albums when they split, whereas the Gallaghers carried on with the pub band sound, a poor(er) Stereophonics with a Beatles tinge. Lovely. Damon created the Gorillaz, worked with African artists, created an Opera, produced a beautiful album with The Good The Bad and The Queen. I put on Damon Albarns solo LP again yesterday, it's really bloody good. Coxon is the greatest guitarist of his generation.
To summarise, Oasis were great for a couple of years, Blur for 13 years. There is no comparison, there is no other way. Blur even 'beat' Oasis with their worst single but that is a very small time in history where a record label needed record sales so they created a fake competition. Blur is the Bowie of our generation, Oasis the Slade (but shorter timescale and less talent).

Oasis - one of the most over-rated bands of all time. Ploddy, dull, unimaginative stuff. Make Status Quo seem as inventive as Talking Heads or Roxy Music.

personally I've moved on and now believe Blur's back catalogue has more to offer, but back in the day I was very very much in the Oasis camp.....

Incorrect. Oasis formed in 1991.
Pedantry aside, Oasis all day long for me. Been my favourite band since Definitely Maybe. Admittedly the final few albums were a bit of a slog but each of them still has something to enjoy on there.
This. The nation should just forget Oasis. Blur are very good but are not in the same league as this country's best ever bands such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones and Radiohead.

Don't get me wrong, I like Blur. 13 is, as you say, an incredible record but I have always had more fun listening to and watching Oasis. Maybe some of my admiration is pure nostalgia but they still get my feet tapping.
It's all subjective. What I do know is that I listen to Damon Albarn's releases a hell of a lot more than any of those bands you have mentioned. He's a real and very special talent.
