Except post match on Village Way. I'm not saying it's a perfect solution but surely manual handling of those traffic lights leading onto Falmer Road would speed up exits for everybody considerably.

There was a time when the police took control of this and it flowed much better. For whatever reason this doesn't happen any more.

As far as the uni parking is concerned, then it makes sense to fill the car parks in a first come first served basis. That was one of Monday night's problems.

Apart from those who have mobility issues, there really is no reason for anyone in a car to get priority at a stadium that is very well served by public transport.

Of course, living in Hove you have bus and rail options to your doorstep. Did you know that there are large numbers of Albion fans from outside of Brighton & Hove who are not well served by public transport? Many areas of East and West Sussex are not on a direct rail line to Brighton or have public transport that will get them anywhere near the city / stadium. Many fans drive from outside of the County. Of course, if you want the Amex to be half empty then let's ban anyone from driving to the stadium.

So, basically, what it all comes down to is that the club accepts no responsibility for the appallingly bad design of the whole parking area and any congestion is all the fault of its paying "customers".Oh yes, if you didn't buy a programme today you probably won't have a clue what's going on!

I didn't buy a programme today so I read when somebody has kindly posted above. I'm amazed people expect to get out of a bottleneck so quickly and beige Bennett's field was a last minute addition so there is no wonder it doesn't work very well.

Have you tried parking in Lewes just before a game? I would have thought it was a nightmare. But maybe I'm wrong.

Of course I've tried it. That's why I recommended it. Don't rule out options that you know nothing about.

It's is very easy to park in Lewes for example even if you use the station car park you will save money and get home far earlier

If you're coming from Eastbourne by car then why not park for free in Seaford and get free train travel from there?

It's called a train. Free from Lewes and arrives in 8 minutes.

Great response. Your travel subsidy Eastbound extends past Lewes all the way to Seaford (your location).
The fans from Polegate, Eastbourne, Bexhill and Hastings have no subsidy until Lewes. And that dosnt include out-lying towns, such as my location that have to drive/taxi to the train line and then pay a rail fare.
So dont be so pig headed, we know its actually 9 minutes from Lewes, we have to catch it every game.

I drive to Lewes then take the train. I just suggested others drive to Seaford. All free . I do hate people that don't check out their options, then complain.

Then use the park and rides. If they get over subscribed then the club would look for new sites. We normally have to wait for the second round of buses but we are probably heading north on the A23 long before many who are parked in Bennetts field. Also, if you want to get away quicker then swap with a Uni car park and put up with a slightly longer walk!

I have to say I don't like his tone about people who PAY a significant amount to park close to the stadium. Whilst he can trot out crap about priority to sustainable methods the reality is if all these people jumped on the other methods offered they would be flooded. I feel for those in Bennets field and what is being proposed is disgusting especially for night games when people work the next day. I would imagine a lot of people who use these parking facilities are those with longer journeys. Be interesting to see how this plays out in reality

I think the tone is directed at the minority of knobs who think they have a god given right to jump the queue and insult those doing their jobs!

Didn't notice anyone complaining except you. Someone mentioned that the east wasn't well served with park and ride. You really think drivng to Seaford from Eastbourne is a good idea to get the train but yet you don't take the train yourself. I'm sure you have a good reason but that would prohibit my brother coming to the game and as I have kids it would definitely stop them from coming over at evening games. Not everyone is in the same situation as you, there's no need for your aggressive tone mate.

Incredibly bizarre decision on the Bennets Field front.

No one gets out of the car park in 45 minutes anyway, so there improvement is to make that official!!

And note the minimum time comment.

Will watch this with interest.

More interestingly there seems to be a suggestion in the transport managers tweets that a more permanent solution will be ready for next season. New exit perhaps?

Probably close it

What am I not understanding about this? The Uni car parks do fill up on a first come first served basis - don't they?

Not always. Recently they seem to have gone for filling up CP1 first before letting people into CP2. This is okay when the back exit out of CP1 is open but when this is shut you have a couple of hundred cars all trying to squeeze out of one exit after the match. When you have made the effort to get there early it is somewhat galling to find you can be some of the last people to leave.
